You have to know in your heart that the preacher that collected all that money at the end of the world will now give it back. Ha Ha

I agree with all that there is humor in this topic. It has long been a part of the Christian tradition, particularly in the first 1000 years of Christianity. None of the failed predictors ever return their fees.

Actually there are many prominent people predicting the end of civilization as we know it, prominent among them are Al Gore (VP and author), Jim Hansen (Head of NOAA) and for decades now Paul Eurlich (Prof at Stanford and author of the Population Bomb). Though all three people have now made serious and frightening, and mainly failed predictions of doom, they all still hold significant posts and none of them is returning any of their fees for their failed predictions.

Said with a sense of the humor in live and the perspective to survive it.

Now what did Chicken Little do,

Norm

I'm afraid not, Camilla!
You've been left behind, too.

You'll have to carry on with the rest of us yet awhile...

For perspective there are on average over 40 earthquakes with greater than a magnitude of 4 every day. As well at any moment there are likely to be 20 volcanos erupting.

The earth is truly alive.

We're just kidding around here, guys...
This is "General Chat"- nothing's to be taken too seriously...
If we can't poke fun at the Latest American wingnut/conman, what CAN we talk about?
Especially considering that even if that guy was right, he and his followers went "away" yesterday.
There's nobody left down here to offend!

I agree it's all chicken little humor.... unfortunately it doesn't go away. I believe the minister predicted it was all going to end in the 90's. Paul Eurlich has been predicting world disaster since the 1960's and he's a tenured professor at one of our best Universities.

It's good to laugh and smile but also to be aware of the reality of some of these folks.

I've seen no anger or angst in this series of posts and pleased we can poke fun at ourselves and the world about us with out recrimination.

I have faith that it will happen eventually, but that it will come at a time that is s surprise to just about everyone... no silly date/time predictions. Although if I were to guess a time of year, I'd pick some September.

In the meantime, all camping trips are still on! Can someone yell, "ROAD TRIP!"

For dinner last night, I cooked a one-minute egg and made some instant pudding.

Then today I was trying to find a good rapture joke but couldn't fine one. A friend said...

"Don't worry about it, it's not like it's the end of the world!!"
