The passing of a most valued member

I have just been notified by his family that Pete Dumbleton passed away peacefully this morning, in his sleep.

Pete was an incredible asset to the Fiberglass community and will be missed by many "old timers" here and on the other Fiberglass RV related groups.

Please join us in sharing your memories of Pete to support those that mourn his loss both here in this thread, and at

http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/peterdumbleton

Gods Speed, Pete. Gods Speed.

Pete was a pragmatic "Mans Man" his trailer was definitely set up for a lone male to live in, a true "Man Cave" He had all kinds of very practical ways of doing things.. most of them well thought out, very functional, but lacking a "womans touch".

One of my favorite memories of Pete was his reaction when I suggested this was all good and well, but his trailer needed Dust Ruffles. He said something about a certain place freezing over.. "I don't need no steenking Dust ruffles" For his birthday, I fashioned a drawing for him to make some dust ruffles, made from leather with tool pockets, hardware and places to hold his "Man Things".

I am pretty sure he did not take on the task. But he got a big kick out of it :-P

Pete, there are no dust ruffles in heaven. You are safe.

I always appreciated Pete's contributions, and you could just tell he would be a nice, unique, and interesting fellow to meet in person. My loss I never did.

Thanks, Pete, and Happy Trails to you.

I wish I had met Pete. I had read so many of his posts in the past when I was researching campers. I'll miss his posts but I'm happy for him that his pain is ended.

I read many of Pete's postings and he answered some of my newbie questions. I'm sorry I won't have an opportunity to meet him. Please take a minute to read the tribute his children have written on the Caring Bridge site.
CaringBridge / peterdumbleton / Welcome

Rest in peace Pete.

One of my happiest fiberglass meetings was when I met Pete at Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada. I twisted and twisted his arm to get him to attend our rally at Pahrump, which he did. That was a wonderful week with Pete.

To all of us who knew Pete, either in person or by the internet, our lives were definitely enriched.

Pete I know you are up there happy with Ratatouille, etal. They have been waiting for you.

Such a loss for our online community. He was always so helpful when I had questions about our Scamp. I just read Pete's obit on the CaringBridge site--he did more in his 67 years than most could do in 150! He certainly made the most of life.

I did not know Pete as he hadn't posted a lot since I joined this board.

I just read his obituary. What a rich, full life he led! I am adopting his favorite quote as my new motto:

“A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.” John A. Shedd, Salt From My Attic, 1928
