a flock of Beagles...
But I could only take one..
so here she is, my brand new camper..
Her name is "Relay", she is 8 weeks old and it's her first day away from all her sisters and brothers.
Oh.. the whining and pooping! But my older dogs will get over it.
And the puppy is upset too :-P

Roux & Scout, and Sheila & I send our best wishes to you and your new bundle of love! I bet you have a real case of puppy love, I know I would. Poop & whining are easily overlooked when there is a cute puppy around. Enjoy! D

Ahhhh, the adventure begins - thanx for sharing your 'baby pictures'. We bid this sweet pup to the Crestline Critter Palace! Ms. Minnie sends puppy woofs of welcome, too. WHAT a cutie! So ... is there a story (silly question) leading up to naming her "Relay"? Have fun - L 'n D

no particular reason... I always pick names before I get my pets, and that just seemed to be catchy and roll off the tungue easily.
She is VERY smart... she had never been in a crate until today and she takes to it very easily. She goes in and out of it freely to take her naps.
I, on the other hand, have a very difficult time not running over to her nursery and cuddling her when she whines. But the "experts" tell me not to. I have never had a pup this young.. so, I am starting from scratch.. it's her first day tho.. I feel so sorry for her.

yes, the cat is undecided at this point, and the pup instinctively knows to leave him alone. Both are interested in each other, but have had no contact. The cat will come around when he figures out this is a playing machine.
He got up on the chair with me in his regular spot when the pup was asleep at my side, so he isn't scared of her.. just cautious at this point.
Proud Daddy here.. trying to get the pup to play with his "Man" sized toys.
He is a bit bewildered why she can't join in the fun.. of course, the toy is bigger than she is.
He put her in her place ONCE, when she explored with her teeth, as pups do, on his, er, "daddyhood". I don't blame him.
Other wise, he doesn't seem to be bothered by her, and lets her chase him and climb on him. He ignores her whining too. LOL! I got her for him for when the old girl passes. She is very motherly with the pup, but knows not to coddle.
They know... I haven't a clue...

a little while.
The old girls camping days are coming to an end, it takes too much out of her. She won't go on anything longer than a weekend trip anymore.

Thank you so much for sharing your pic.'s Gina. A blessed moment for you both to find each other, and so priceless to see the older ones looking so tenderly upon the pup. Totally put some sunshine on a rather gloomy day. Bonnie W

Hi Gina
You must be very proud of that little one. She's adorable. I can see where she could make you want to be a cuddle mom.
She's definitely a keeper. I'm looking forward to seeing her at a rally.

OK, now the adults are bored with her and basically ignoring her. (At least they are not trying to eat her LOL!)
Perhaps this is their way of getting back at me for not giving them those cookies, or all those trips to the boarding kennel.. or...
when the "poop" whine starts at O dark thirty, they roll over and stare at me. "Can you fix that now?"
I was hoping she would bring out the inner mamma of my old female for more than a day...

Relay is very cute and your Mama looks like a good old pal
(My faithful pal is 15 this year, and every one of those years has been wonderful. Gosh but puppies look so young and bouncy! I guess I've gotten used to the old feller.)

Hey Gina, beautiful puppy! Beagles are sooooo cute!
Beagles are one of my favorite dogs. My preference are Maltese, Beagle and Redbone. My dad was a hunter and I love those hunting dogs with the longer ears. We always had Beagles until a few yrs ago. I do miss having one around the place. Ours usually lived to about 17 or 18 yrs of age. They make great family pets. Thanks for sharing the pictures of all your doggies. I love doggie pictures. Hope you sleep tonight. :-)

I know exactly what you mean. My "Little Old Man" turned 16 in September and he's finding it tough just to take a walk around the block with the other dogs. He routinely gets his Trader Joe's glucosamine with chondroitin and the occassional Rimadyl on really bad days. It helps. I carry him up and down the stairs and he whines if the other guys are upstairs with me and he has been left out (usually because he was sound asleep on the hearth.) His paw pads are delicate and gravel roads are painful for him, so I bought him a little red wagon with side-slats and a custom cushion to pull him around campgrounds. It's hard to watch him decline but I treasure each day I have with him and relish inventing new ways to make him more comfortable. But he still hollars when the cat touches him and gives a short chase so there's still some onery in him. Yeah. . . I love old dogs.
One of these days the boys and I will make it up the mountain and see you and yours. Congratulations on your new addition. She's adorable!

Gina,
So now you have your first "child"! At least the sleepless nights should come to an end a little more rapidly than with a human child. Relieving the pup within 15 minutes after it has eaten will prevent experiencing many accidents, particularly since diapers don't work nearly as well as they do with human babies.
Congratulations,
Kurt & Ann K.

Gina,
I'm wondering how the pup and
'poopfest' are coming along?
The initial shock over yet? Any lab results?
