To Sell - or not to sell
So - I have a classic: but again - most of us do....
1972 Boler American - out of Kansas... I've used it once in the last 2 years so it's been sitting in my driveway doing nothing? The thought is to leave it and sure I'll use it again some day - but the other thought is to sell it?
I've done quite a bit of work to it, gutting it completely.... new exterior paint, new flooring, new countertop (Granicrete) - and new curtains etc.... it looks fantastic.
So the question is - do I even consider selling?? if So - what are we thinking for a price?
Thanks
Tim

Regrets
My 1st trailer was a '71 Compact Jr. It was gutted when I bought it and I rebuilt it. I did something similar to what you did.
When I bought my Fiber Stream, I decided to sell the Compact.
It was difficult, because I had $4000 invested, and no buyer wanted a trailer that was missing the sink, stove, and refrigerator. They weren't enamored of the charcoal gray paint job, either. I wound up selling it to friends for $1000 because I didn't want it to sit unused.
These friends went on a camping trip with us, and I got to see how they were using it...
A year later, my partner wanted to use the trailer, but the Fiber Stream was too much for him to handle, so I had to go set it up and then retrieve it for him. The Compact Jr. would have been perfect for him to use on his own...
If maintenance and storage is not a problem, I would wait and see if it were totally unused after 5 years. Don't neglect it... keep it in good shape. If it is a problem to maintain it and store it, then I would sell it to a total stranger who lives far from you.

If you decide to sell you might think first about why you aren't using it - maybe it doesn't meet your travel/camping needs and a different trailer would get used more.
That's what we found when we sold our 13' Burro. We had it for 12 yrs. but the last 4 or 5 didn't use it much, and due to challenging health times for me, it sat unused for 2 1/2 years before we sold it. We had some good long trips with it, but decided we would use a trailer more that met the needs of aging bodies.
But we didn't let go of the Burro, even though it sat unused, until we made that decision. I you enjoyed using the Boler and it's just a matter of not having opportunies to take it out, you might hold on for awhile. Two years is not long. I wonder if anyone has ever done a poll here as to how often most folks, who are not retired, use their trailer, or the longest period of time it has sat unused.
When we did sell it, although we had bought our Escape, we had some sad moments, but were happy to have someone drive away with it with lots of plans and new energy to use it and care for it. You will find someone who will appreciate what you put into it if you decide to let it go.
Good luck with your decision - these little eggs are sort of like pets, especially if you've put time and energy into it (we had done a lot of work on our Burro), and can be hard to part with if lives change and a little FGRV doesn't fit in anymore. Maybe for you it was a matter of getting it and working on it to find out if you wanted one!

I see someone has a 13' 76 with some upgrades for sale for $2500.
Price depends on condition obviously and the market where you are.
We know a young couple who would be very interested in it if you decide, please let me know, maybe sent me a pm. They are away this week but as soon as they return I will tell them about it. But then, I don't know where you are located! That would help!

PS Oh, I see you are in Kansas. Well we are in WA but they are young and like to travel around so might still be interested!

I went to the Classified Archives Forum and searched for " Boler".
Fiberglass RV - Search Results
There are 10 pages, with 50 ads per page.
I would look at as many ads in that search as I have the stamina for (500 ads!) and see what all the prices average out to.
Here is another research idea:

Well - I've seen anything from $2500 - to a Boler American selling for $5k / that was in need of an interior and paint.... obviously I think that's crazy... but I'm sure I'll be somewhere inbetween.
It's a great little camper, but come spring - you all will be the first to know that I listed it.
I am located in the Minneapolis area, and I bought it from the original owner here back in 2008?....
Thanks for all the advice

if your in need of the cash, set a price and let them bargain you down from a higher price to our set price. if they stop above that you made a little extra.
if you don't need the money that bad, just want to see it get used, maybe look for someone that needs a break in life and give them a really good deal on it.

Bolers are collectors items in our area (hard to come by so hard to replace)
Fix it and put it behind a 72 car what a package!

Old thread, but small world. I almost had my parents look at this one from craigslist. They looked at several for me around Minneapolis.

Possibly selling Boler-- from way back!
So, did you decide to sell it, or what?

Tim's last entry in this thread was 5 years ago so I would think that he has sold it.

Check the dates on the sale ads. The moderators try to remove only the ads that the owners post as 'sold', and then allow the others to 'age' off the page.

Hi, yes, except that this thread doesn't even say if he had DECIDED to sell it. How can we tell on these threads IF a rig has been sold? I'm sure there's a way, but I cannot find it.
Thanks

Hi, that was fast--I posted before I saw this one. Moderators will remove if the seller says it was sold, otherwise they let it age off. OK. Thanks. Kind of what it was looking like, lots don't come back and say if sold or not.
