Background: Here in the lower mainland of BC we typically have two weather conditions, raining (leaking clouds cover sky totally) and sunny (sometimes seen during summer months, rarer during other 10 months.). Often our sunny days are totally cloudless (due to the way the high pressure ridge situates itself). As a photographer I find myself drawn to dramatic cloudscapes as we seldom experience them here. (one of the reasons I love road trips to elsewhere).
Last night (August 31) I noticed a strange warm glow on the folks (we had mucho company) sitting in the "sunroom" on the east side of the house. I peeked out the window to see an enormous
cloud glowing in the last rays of the setting sun. So, grabbing my daughter's digital camera I grabbed a few shots (I'm a B/W film photographer and that wasn't the right tool for this situation.)
Here are a few of the shots... (we likely won't see anything like this around here again this year)
