I sure like the idea of a power jack, and have been looking without much luck.
Everyone I find on the Net, is designed to install in the center of the A-frame.

I found a pic of 1 somewhere, that folds away (which I'd rather have, I think).
I haven't a clue who sells the folding ones.

Any one know where I can get one??

There's another way to do it and that is to modify your existing jack to have a nut welded/fastened on the top -- Then you run it up or down with a battery drill or impact wrench -- No cables to hook up.

But then, you'd have to carry a drill(or) impact gun with you.
I have a batterie in the front already, so hooking up is not a problem.

I really think an eclectic jack is the Cats Meow

I'm with Pete on this one because we have a full set of Sears 18.4V power tools and usually use the impact driver on the stabilizers we use.
Along with this driver, we pack the vacuum, florescent(sp?) light and fan.
....so much for roughing it, eh?

Thanks for the link.

I see there is also a 1500 lbs also.
Are they as good as the a-frame type,?
What type do you use,and how do you like it,?

I definitely need one that has the wheel on the end,so I can move the trailer.

I wouldn't know how they compare. And mine is sitting in a box... hasn't been mounted. My trailer will need some tongue work first. I'd like to change the coupler over for a 2" ball, etc. Since my trailer is a 16 footer, it's considerably heavier than yours.... 2,150 empty. I use a tongue dolly to move it around on the carport and since that mounts to the coupler, I don't need a wheel on the jack.
600# Heavy Duty Tongue Dolly

250# Capacity Trailer Dolly

As a fulltimer, I always had a drill on hand anyway. Impact drivers are inexpensive and also useful for changing wheels, etc. As folks may have already picked up, I like things, esp on truck and Scamp, that can do more than one thing to earn their keep.

For the archives, here's a recent post from another group:

On this last trip, I had a chance to use my new impact wrench. I got this at one of those industrial resale type stores. Battery powered, and I already had a socket (same one fits the BAL leveler and the BAL stabilizers...go figure.) and extension.

Well, lemme tell you, my elbow is thanking me!!! THIS was the thing to get!

First, I used it on the leveler. For those that are lucky enough to have a single axle, the Bal Leveler is just wonderful! You slide this around the low tire and use the enclosed wrench to lift it up! No wood, no legos. But, there is that wrench thing. I have done it by hand and it is certainly do-able. Yea, but not a lot of fun.

OK, so in I go with my new toy and it works great!!!!!! UP goes the tire like a service station! Perfectly level. And the jacks...oh man...I didn't know those jacks could move that fast! Zip zip...done! And the same of breaking camp...really fast, really easy and when I got in my truck, my arms weren't hurting, my elbow was fine and generally felt like this was a good purchase!

IMHO, Battery powered impact wrench...WAY to go!

Decided to go with the electric A-Frame jack.
Installed it in about 30 mins.
I can['t wait to put-Er to the test.

The one I went with is part # 8235350 being sold at Princess Auto.
I got it on sale(so the timing couldn't have been better).

I weighed the total tong weight today, and it weighs appx 170-180 LBS.
I have 2 full BBQ tanks,a batterie,and the jack.

Is the weight acceptable as far as Safety is concerned,??

My wife & I are soooooooooo happy I put the electric Jack on.

Can't know if the tongue weight is even close to acceptably safe without knowing how much it should be, based on the actual weight of the entire trailer -- A lot like asking me if a size medium shirt will fit my brother-in-law without having seen him!

It's not the actual pounds we care about, it's the ratio of those pounds to the total weight (10-15% of total weight should be on the ball) -- There's only one way to get that right >>> Load it all up for a trip, take it to a commercial multi-platform scale and get some weights of the tow vehicle and egg axle, hitched and unhitched, and then do the math. Then you will have your answers. Otherwise, you are just shooting in the dark...

Dry weights and GVWRs are just starting estimates -- It's the real world weights that count!
