I got volunteered?
OK, my big mouth comments to Jim got me 'volunteered' to be a moderator over there...I really don't want that level of involvement but I guess I will try it for awhile, just to help out, as it really could be a good site. I do see already where there is an large amount of spam with potential virus that must be deleted or the website will be compromised again. Like Kevin said: they need more volunteers (Kevin,Tom, Kirkman??)
FiberglassRV has become my main interest but having an independent
site just for the UHaulers would be great, we just need Uhaulers to become
active again over there.
At least the joining process is working again: http://uhaulcamper.com/ucp.php?mode=...e6e6bd119bacf6 and it seems to be presently moving in the right direction. So please, Check it out U ALL UHAULERS!

Does not take much effort to be a moderator. Just respond to postings which are not numerous right now, unless it becomes active again. I was not a moderator, but I almost was until I became when I was chastised for trying to help someone who had not registered and was trying to sell something. I quit posting for several months after that.
I posted something, but I will see if I can think of something that sparks conversation. Right now, I am brain-fried after an intensive class that I just finished teaching. We teach a one semester class in one week in the summer. It is a killer, but it pays for our trips in the Uhaul.

UHaul in 'moderation'
Thanks Mrs.CindyL (and Mr.Kevin),
You both are long timers at UHaulCampers.com and, as you know, I was fortunate to learn about this place from you after I had started over there. I know it will continue to have many hits as it is where the search engines will lead you!
As I told Jim: " soon, I may be relocating and not up to 'moderating ".
(he's asking for volunteers) I do see where spammers are trying to get in so it is necessary to delete that stuff...
Really looking forward to seeing your new VT decals!

I was poking around at the forum yesterday in some threads that I'd never read before, and came on a few posts from Leadman, who actively built the molds for the trailers. He made a few insightful statements then disappeared.
There is some interesting history over there.

I figured we scared him off when we asked too many questions. He worked on the VTs in AZ.

I think he said that all the molds, including CT, were made in Arizona.

Could be, but he knew VTs. We sometimes run across people in OH who have worked on CTs, but this guy was able to answer questions I had about whether or not certain things about the privacy room in our VT were original or not, because he worked on them.
I was sorry when he did not stay active.

Hey, Thomas. Are you planning to get to the Algonac St. Park in eastern Michigan the first weekend in Sept.? There are already 3 UHauls signed up - 1 CT (Pam) and 2 VTs.

I discussed it with DW, but it looks like we will sit this out. We are more remote, boon dockers than social, state parks camping people. I hope you will post lots of pictures, though.

Original registration
Hey Tom,
Did your CT have a little plastic tube up under the left rear of the frame,
near to the rear bumper license plate area, which is enclosed in a short horizontal piece of pipe welded to the frame???
I discovered mine, quite by accident and curiosity, while poking around back under there and it had the original, as far as I can tell, UHaul registration.
Unfortunately, mine was tightly rolled up and when unrolled to read it, it came apart on me and some of it I cannot read. It does mentions Arizona as I recall. I made a copy, of what I could salvage, and put it back in there!

Yep, it has the original registration inside a plastic tube inside that little steel tube. I've left mine there for posterity, too.

After reading a post a couple years ago, I went looking for the tube on my VT, too. The tube is there but nothing was inside. Looks like my paperwork was lost somewhere on our VT's life-journey.

Interesting to think all UHaul went through dealing with the public and these rigs. If one was inclined, there are probably microfilm records of all these registrations somewhere... Sounds like your original registration might be securely in it's tube along side some Arizona highway!

UHaulcamper web site active again
For those who are unaware of the dedicated to UHaul only website
here is the link.
UHaulCamper.com • Index page
It has been inactive for many months, due to viruses,
but has been cleaned up and becoming active again.
Great historical archives and UHaul specific info over there for those
who own one or are interested in them (you do not have to own one to register)...
Of course, still maintain your FiberglassRV interest!!!

Yea, there are cobwebs in every door way. Quite a few people have joined over there in the last few days, though.
I can easily see people finding them and then getting channeled over here, as well.

Cobwebs
Yes sir Mr. Tom,
I found this site through that site when Mrs. CindyL sent me over here...the spiders have been exterminated, now just need to brush off those cobwebs...
