Unrealistic Expectations?

Ok, what is with all the Eggs in pieces and parts and yet the asking price is still $3000??? I thought I was going to be able to pick up a campable one for that price. Is that not realistic? I figured it would be a Vintage 70's or early 80's model with no frills but there is nothing out there..... So happy I have till the end of Jun but was hoping to have time to practice with it, clean it up and have it checked out if need be.

I guess I should add that it not be in Canada or clear across the entire country from me.

Everything happens within a time and space. There are cheaper campers out there, but maybe not within a reasonable driving distance from you or where you're looking. Too, remember not ALL trailers are advertised on Craigslist, FiberglassRV-4-sale, or any of the forums. You are running into the end date timeline, which makes it seem more critical. Most people look, but are waiting patiently for the trailer they want to show up. And, althought they'd rather have that happen sooner than later, they're willing to wait months for it to happen. Time, it doesn't appear, is a luxury you have.

It's not your fault, but it's the season. Now it's warm people want boats, motorcycles and campers, therefore the prices have gone up. Just blame that stupid insurance co.

I just posted a referral to a 16 ft 2002 casita in Ohio.

A good friend of mine picked up a very nice 1998 13' Scamp standard last summer for $3500. It doesn't have a lot of frills but it's in very nice condition. He found it on the internet in the FOR SALE section of the Scamp forum.

Funny, in my purchasing saga I was told that the $1800 I paid for a "needs work" 1973 13' Scamp was too much, but since it turned out to be a 1991 (read the saga ) that I got an ok deal. But in my searching, all I saw were complete gutted projects for under $2k, and even '70s trailers were selling for $4-5k. So I thought $1800 for an egg that seemed functional (even though it needed work) was a smoking deal, 1973 or not.

I suppose I could have continued to be patient, and searched next winter, but where's the fun in that?
