VW Beetle & Gooseneck Trailer.

Happened across a tube vid yesterday that brought back old memories.
It is a fifth wheel trailer which is designed to be towed by a VW Beetle.
I worked on one of these many years ago and thought it is a Fibreglass body. Maybe not molded though.
With all things old being restored and made new, it would be neat to see one again. Have a look!

Giles, thanks. Saw that video, months ago. I wonder how much the VW suspension was beefed up?

I doubt anything was done to the suspension. VW's of that era used torsion bars with shocks. The travel and strength were phinominal since the suspension was designed to travel smoothly at st least 30 mph over unimproved roads. I had a 1979 VW bus that could carry almost as much weight as my buddy's pickup in cargo. I used to do 35 to 40 mph on rutted dirt roads when car camping.

We saw the Beetle with 5th wheel attached to it in Florence, CO a couple of years ago. It came from Pueblo, CO. It was at a car show. The 5th wheel was pretty cool.

Someone found one a few years ago in a scrap yard.

Hello everyone. I saw that commercial film on Youtube and so I built a 1:25 plastic model of the Gooseneck trailer and hitched it to VW 1303S model I also built. Take a look!
