We host the Falling for Fiberglass Rally in Cherokee NC in Oct. as well as Eggs on the Hiawassee River Rally in Northeast GA in May. Both are great rallies, the latter one had over 100 fiberglass campers in attendance this year.

I second the idea of going to a rally. You will definitely have the chance meet a lot of very nice folks and will have a lot of fun. We recently attended one near Carson City. I suggested a widow neighbor of mine attend with her Escape and she had a wonderful time. Another woman came that nobody knew and she was welcomed in with a better campsite and got right into the activities.
I highly recommend going to a rally.

Rally
My wife and I have been to a few rally's over the years, always a friendly and welcoming bunch. Someday when I retire I hope to travel the county and show up at the various rallies along the way. Quite a few rally attendees that I have spoken to over the years do this and seems to be a great way of resetting every few weeks while on the road.
Safe travels!

I would try to attend as many as possible as soon as possible as "some day" never seems to appear on the calendar.......

Raspy, that was a good Rally, good to meet you there. I'm headed for Carson City right now , again. The first 2 days of Hot August nights start in Virginia City, not Reno. Thanks for your hospitality, hope to see you soon. David and Julie. ( David in Fresno and Sonora

I am a solo camper. I have met my camping friends by camping. They either have been some of the hosts or other solo campers. Some of these folks remain long term friends.

Try Loners On Wheels
Loners On Wheels has chapters in most states. They have monthly camping meets. Their website has specifics on applying for membership. You get an ID to wear to campouts. You can start with camping in your state and attend national or regional rallies. I highly recommend this organization.

There may be a state/area chapter near you, and they do have solo travelers and full timers chapters also.
A great group to travel with. In SoCal, we camp from September through June. It is getting harder to find reservations at the last minute, so having the dates and locations decided in advance really helps. If you aren’t ready to jump in yet, check their website for a gathering near you and drive by for a quick visit, or book a night for yourself. You will be welcome!

Wouldn’t be too far to come up to the Mississippi River Rendezvous at Thompson Illinois next week. There are usually several Missouri based campers there. As well as Illinois, wisconsin, Minnesota iowa and others
