My new favorite roadside pleasure (besides Black Bear Diners in California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Nevada) is warm, freshly baked cookies available 3 for $.99 at, of all places, ARCO gas stations' am/pm stores! These yummy 3" round cookies look, smell and taste homemade and come in many flavors including Cinnabon-Cinnamon Chip, Pumpkin, Peanut Butter, Oatmeal, TMGS "Too Much Good Stuff "and more. Each small brown bag with a cellophane window bears the time the cookies were baked and the "date by" to be enjoyed. When fresh-baked goods can be few and far between on camping trips I look forward to "gassing" up and indulging my sweet tooth at these stations. Yes, the company is trying to create "brand loyalty" and I'm falling for it big time.
What is your favorite (family-friendly) roadside pleasure, food or otherwise?
