What kind of stuff do you "keep" in your rig?

This is not really a “getting ready to go camping list of stuff” question but more about spare stuff that you just leave in your rig that you just might need “out there” someday. I am thinking about stuff like spare clothes if you get caught somewhere and forgot to pack enough so you don’t have to start looking for a Walmart. I came across some old sweat shirts and sweat pants the other day with small holes but that are too good to throw away so I washed them and figure to leave them in the Scamp. Maybe an old pair of gym shorts, T-shirts, some skivvies and socks, and an old towel or two all back in one of the hard to get at niches under the dinette. Any other suggestions?

Tim,
Since you're in Florida too....We went beach camping in the FL Keys this summer and my husband forgot to pack his swim shorts😳. So now he has a spare pair stuffed in a back cabinet.

I keep an old blanket and a cheap rain suit wrapped around a flashlight so I always have something to kneel/sit on when changing a flat tire in the rain at night......

We do just the opposite, Tim. If something does not get used after a few trips, it gets removed. We do keep a few jackets specifically for trailer use, but use a check list to ensure we add what we need for specific trips. We have never lacked for adequate clothing.

Same with other gear, we do not take anything deemed for use "Just in case", and instead bring along what we need. That said, there is lots of gear that has become standard, stuff we know we are likely to use now and then.

I like to keep as little gear as possible. It reduces weight, and leaves for lots of storage.

For me, things like a blanket, headlamp and rain gear are standard gear. They are not optional.

Duct Tape will fix almost anything. I keep a roll of it in a drawer and have used it a few times already.

I keep an extra pair of levi's and a long sleeve flannel shirt and a box of disposable gloves for really dirty repairs that may arise. By being prepared I have never needed them, but they are always there.

I also have two Bright Red safety vests with reflective stripes should I have to get out in traffic to help or for a repair. In Europe these are mandatory items.

I also have a carry box of emergency trailer repair items such as: Spare wheel bearings (pre-greased) spate dust cap, small box of misc. screws, small box of misc. electrical terminals & splices, a couple of lengths of #12 wire, duct tape, wd-40, high pressure sealing tape, a few feet of sealing putty, fuses, light bulbs, hose clamps, and other odd & ends. Most of that has gotten used to fix someone else's RV, but I am ready for almost anything. I didn't list the tool box because that's in the TV.

We each keep a rain coats, a pull over and caps in the car all the time in a plastic box in the rear of the Odyssey. I basically keep my clothes in the trailer year round, Ginny takes most of here's out when we get home. The trailer has all it's own utensils, dishes and the like.

When home I do not remove tools from the tow vehicle or trailer except to use them and return them.

i attempt to keep *everything* needed for travel except clothes and perishable foods. of course there are some things like the toolbox, computer and cameras that aren't in the trailer always. for that stuff i have a list that i print out and check off as they're loaded. this method compensates for the memory loss i've experienced due to old age.

I find that it is a good idea to work from a list otherwise my memory cells let me down and I leave something behind. I have a 'Get Ready for the first time out' list that tells me what items go where - Kitchen cupboard, closet, cupboard above closet, under the bed cubbies etc. Once in their spaces these things stay put until we empty the camper out for winter. I don't need to do much more than a quick check each time after that - I can see that I have the 1st aid kit, the basic tools, a flashlight, solar collector, dog beds etc.

I have another list that tells me what food and clothing has to get packed, which varies a bit depending on where we are going and for how long. For us this is the list that includes stuff like pots, dishes, ketchup, dishsoap etc. These go in the back of the Element so they are convenient to get at. We do basic camping and cook outside. (I didn't 'tidy up' before snapping picture).
