Have any of you Tacoma fans been following the 2016 major re-design hype? I believe a diesel will be offered this time. It will be announced at the International Detroit Auto Show.

No real change in appearance... If they keep up this styling trend, they'll put Studebaker clean out of business!

I just purchased
a 2014 Ram 1500 Tradesman Crew Cab with the towing package.
WOW!~! I have been less than 1k but I appear to be towing around 16mpg and much higher without the rig.
Rides good and does not even know the 19 is back there.

We pull our 19 foot Scamp with a 2013 Tacoma 4 door, 4 wheel drive long box. Yes you have to lay steel on the bed for a hitch and space under the bed for the hitch, but it is not that difficult. We bought our 2010 Scamp and Jim at Backus talked us out of a Tacoma at the time, we bought the 2013 and were sorry we didn't buy it in 2010.

What pickup might you recommend to pull a Scamp 19'er deluxe? I'm guessing it weights in the range of 3,500 lbs. Since I don't otherwise need a pickup, I've been looking at a Toyota Tacoma, 4-door, short bed. (More room inside. Less in the bed.) But I've been told the bed would need to be reinforced to support the hitch, and the truck's mileage, even with the V6, would take a huge "hit" due to the truck's poor torque. I basically know nothing about pickups.
Thank you, in advance, for your thoughts.

Hi: Greg Hine... Sorry we don't have a Scamp 19'er, but we do have a great Nissan Frontier V6 Long bed Crew Cab pickup truck.

WE are in the process of researching a Dodge Durango to pull our 23' Oliver. We will go with the V8 AWD as our trailer will be around 5000 lbs. Probably could go with the V6 as it's rated to tow 6200 lbs, but the added power and the heavy duty tow package makes for a better tow vehicle. It seems to be a good alternative between the mid sized SUV's and the full size SUV's. A log of good reviews and info on the DodgeDurango forum.
Sheesh, this campin' RV stuff is getting expensive.

Well I pull mine with a 2012 Colorado 4-door, 4x4 with a Inline-5. But mine isn't the deluxe.

Was CEP ( Communication, Electrical, Paperworkers ? ). Before that it was Newspaper Guild. Not sure what they are now, but could well be combined with UAW.
No matter. I'm retired for some two years.
For what it's worth, if I buy a new tow vehicle, I'll be looking at Pilot, Highlander and Santa Fe. For what it's worth, I really couldn't care which one I ended up with as long as I got good value. For what it's worth, I lost interest in cars about 30 years ago.
So, I'm not really sure what you mean.

Prompted me to review my vehicle history.
'58 Pontiac sedan that I had to share with my mother.
Simca had really good brakes.
VW Fastback with the gas heater.
VW Beetle. Plowed through the deepest snow with chains on the drive wheels.
1957 Triumph TR3 ( not the 3A with the wide grin ).
Datsun pickup. Didn't even get the radio option. When asked what colour, I said whatever.
Fiat 128 Sport Coupe. Took maybe two years to rust to junk.
VW bus. Removed all the seats and seat belts in the back with plans to convert it into a camper. Never happened.
Nissan ( or maybe Datsun? ) King Cab.
'87 Subaru Loyale. Kept it 13 years.
94 Ford Explorer.
2008 RAV4 Sport V6. Told my wife I was going to Safeway, but I stopped at the dealer and bought the vehicle on my way to the grocery store.

Towing unit/ truck
Pay load in the bed is important when it comes to slide in campers and 5 wheel .towing rating is different. for example my dodge Dakota has a 1500 lbs pay load in the bed .the tow rating is 5700 lbs .as for a short box for 5wheel i fixed lots in the body shop for cab strikes from the trailer on sharp turns . You should get a v8 or diesel 3 L the new dodge 3L diesel dodge has 6200 lbs payload in the bed and a tow rating of 8600lbs + 40 mpg empty and about 30mpg with trailer . I recommend a bed length of 8' to 6.6' for proper clearance .

You missed my point.
GM lied and covered up for TEN years.
Toyota did the same for only THREE years.
Even NASA could find no mechanical or electrical reason for the sudden acceleration.
GM paid 35 million dollars for lying for 10 years and Toyota paid 1.2 Billion for lying less than 1/3 the time.
Obvious double standard.
I've driven Toyotas and a few Hondas for the last 40 years with absolutely no problems whatsoever.
Your intentional bias was obvious and needed to be pointed out.
