I get all the glamour gigs at my job.
Tomorrow, I have to drive to Visalia, Ca. on company bidnezz. I don't anticipate what I am going to be doing will take all that long, that leaves a late afternoon and evening to sit in the Holiday Inn, or see the sights.
There is supposedly some huge Farmer/tractor/cow throwing convention going on, but I think I will pass on that.

I could go looking for this town called "Fresh Fruit". Every time I drive up that way, I always see the sign "Fresh Fruit, 1 mile" but I never actually see the town. There must be a buncha ways in to it.. those signs are everywhere.
I offered to take my car and trailer, stay in it at the RV park in tulare I stayed in in December, but my boss thought that was wierd.

Shucks Gina,
After you mentioned the huge farmer/tractor/cow throwing convention I was hoping for one of your great blow-by-blow accounts of the proceedings. I've never heard of either a huge farmer throwing contest, or a tractor throwing contest. As for cows, its usually their "pies" or "chips" which get thrown.
C'mon Gina, it over and give us a report.
The suspense is almost too much too bear.

William, what about that sign wich says - - keep right, except top ass ? Does that mean that if you are top dog you can stay in the left lane? All sorts of misleading signs. There is always the town of Goslow, not on the map either.

Yes it is... it's the capitol of NoWay. NoWay is located near and shares borders with WrongWay and OneWay.

Gina... the best thing to do in Visalia... is LEAVE! You will undoubtedly notice the fragrant aroma of onions wafting through the air... <sneeze> as a matter of fact, after you notice it, you won't be able to get away from it!

Hey there's a Starbucks and a tattoo parlor in Visalia. What more could a girl want?

It is NOT onions I am smelling
I kid you not, as I could not make this up in my wildest dreams...there is a 5th wheel type farm trailer directly outside my room window, and it has SHEEP in it. "Bleating and babbling we fell on his neck with a scream!!!!!"
Click here to hear the sounds of Visalia!
I think I saw Mr. Haney talking to the John Deere salesman in the hallway.
Other than that, my vendor that I came to see asked me if I had been to Sequoia. I told him yes, a couple years ago. "It's only 30-40 mins away you know" Actually, I didn't realize it was that close, so off I went. I finally recognized where I was, and went into the park aways. Didn't want to go too far as there was snow, they required chains and it was getting dark. I checked out the lower campground on the south side (Empty) and the campgrounds below the park at the Arm Corp of Engineers sites. One campground was "Eh, so so" but the view! Yowza! It is just this side of 3 rivers on the 198.
Oh, I gotta go.. the Farn Equipment and AG show highlights are on the news!

Gina,
I guess that's as close to a blow-by-blow account we can get when you have one hand occupied pinching your nose prior to getting "out of Dodge" to do a little exploring in Sequoia.
Hope you ultimately were able to get a good night's rest.

I couldn't go there B&J.. but the suspence was killing me.
Kurt, that was as close as I wanted to get to any of that.
I did manage to pull over on my way back and FINALLY see the Tehachapi Loop. And a train was just going in as I hit it. Woo Hoo.. or is that "Choo Choo".
The weather was slightly more pleasant this time Whoda thunk that I would actually hit SNOW in Adelanto tho? (It's out in the middle of the Mojave Desert)
Unfortunately, it followed me home.
My 3 day plans have been a bit squelched because of it. sigh.

Since the folks in Vidalia, Georgia will sue anyone infringing on their trademark cash crop, that better not be onions you were smelling

I left California in 91 to return to Illinois and the most exciting thing I can remember about Visilia was watching excess to market needs table grapes turned into raisins. If that is your bag then have at it. Harold
