I had this sent to me and hope it real. I like how he handled bad customer service.

Subject: Fwd: United Airlines broke his guitar and he pays them back
Date: April 2, 2012 8:36:56 PM PDT


A musician named Dave Carroll recently had difficulty with United Airlines.

United apparently damaged his treasured Taylor guitar ($3,500) during a flight. Dave spent over nine months trying to get United to pay for damages caused by baggage handlers to his custom Taylor guitar. During his final exchange with the United Customer Relations Manager, he stated that he was left with no choice other than to create a music video for youtube exposing their lack of cooperation. The manager responded: "Good luck with that one, pal."

So Dave posted a retaliatory video on youtube. The video has since received over 6 million hits. United Airlines contacted the musician and attempted settlement in exchange for pulling the video. Naturally his response was: "Good luck with that one, pal."

Taylor Guitars sent the musician two new custom guitars in appreciation for the product recognition from the video that has led to a sharp increase in orders.

Uhaul does not believe that there are Uhaul campers. They are all stolen . I know a guy who was told that by his Uhaul dealer.

his united breaks guitars song/video was a huge you tube success. seems that the squeaky wheel DOES get the grease!

Well now I did it. After getting ignored by UHaul for months in my request for a UHaul SuperGraphic, I posted a nastygram on their Facebook page. I explained that I could take being denied, but hated to be ignored ....in so many words. Got two responses from two departments today, after months of silence.

I've lost any enthusiasm for UHaul beyond their b@st@rd child campers, but it is nice to have someone acknowledge you.

Yep, that is not only old news (2008) but Mr. Carroll used the incident to build his own career. Here's a little more on what I see as self promotimg extortion.

No, actually they offered up a low resolution JPG that would be useless for enlarging into a trailer graphic. Claimed they had nothing better.
