Colorado Springs. Our Howie, the UHaul, is parked at an RV park in Denver waiting for us to be finished with a conference. Then we are heading out.

Hi: All... We are 4mi. from the beach at Port!!! Last crazy May 24 the traffic streched another 4 mi. inland. The grid lock was so bad at the lakeside that people were stuck in their vehicles in one spot for 3hrs.
Too much... for an order of fries, sand, and sun!!!

My Mom has her 100th B'day on Saturday and then we'll leave for our trip to Alberta on the 4th. When everyone else, up here, is heading home from their long weekend. The heavy traffic will be in the other lanes. We hope!

Wanted to go to Cape Hatteras - everything decent is booked. So we're avoiding the traffic and are heading to Blue Ridge via the back roads - dry camp at either Panther Falls or Stanton Falls in the GW NF.

We think like Robin and Alf -- holidays see waaaaaay too many people for us. We're hoping to camp a bit immediately AFTER the 4th!

Off to my cousin's farm in Maryland for the long weekend. Then to North Beach Park in Burlington, VT for a few days (nicest "city" park we've ever found) and from there to Saranac Lakes, NY for a few more. Lots o' biking, kayaking, fishing and generally kicking back with some fiberglass friendlies from north of the border coming down to join in.

I'm NOT going camping over the July 4th weekend. Today is my last work day. I'll be staying home enjoying my first weekend of retirement! After the July 4th stampede we'll head out for a couple of quiet weeks in the Rocky Mountains while everyone else is home recovering (since I don't have to worry about getting back to work - he, he) .

It is time for that Rocky Mountain high.

Me neither... But while I still have to go back to work on Tuesday,
I'm spending this holiday weekend getting prepared for The Oregon Gathering!
