Jim, I just saw that weather report on CNN. Major concern is the snow on top of trees that still haven't dropped the leaves. It's liable to cause major power outages when snow-laden limbs come down on power lines. Kids are going to be wearing snow suits before Halloween costumes!

Jim, no one will know your lawn needs to be cut if they can't see it

Stay safe everyone.

Chester,

I looked up Grande Cache, it's really off the beaten track though it looks lovely though pretty low average temps. Do you heat with coal?

No snow here, no sun either. Cold, grey and wet. They say it's going to be along one. After our two month summer I'm hoping to get my egg before spring so I can escape.

I just returned to upstate NY from a trip to PA & WV following the fall color change & had to winterize the Escape 17 yesterday. I didn't think all that much of winter before I bought the trailer, now I like it even less!

I did get some photos I was happy with at Babcock State Park in WV, Ricketts Glen State Park in PA & Luray Caverns, VA:

Wow, adding this one to my list. Kartchner Caverns, AZ is a great place if you haven't been. Sunny too….well not in the caverns

Although the formations in Luray are beautiful, the cave has a "worn" look to me compared to the western caverns I've visited. The guide told me that until the 70's visitors were allowed to break off stalactites to take home, and it looks like it. The tour is also aimed more at pointing out the formations that look like TV & Disney characters rather than information about the cave itself. Still, a very beautiful cavern well worth a visit. I particularly liked the underground lake that perfectly reflects the formations above it. More photos at A Page I Made of My Luray Visit.

I hope to see Kartchner next summer, however the web page states "no cameras", something I'll miss being able to do.

Highly recommended then. Kartchner is considered one of the top caves in the world. It's "living" and you pass through an anti chamber and get sprayed down in order to maintain the interior humidity. The tour was very educational about the history and cave formation itself (which I enjoy). The sites we're to good for even anti-lectureres to be bored.

We got 2 inches last night, and another 6 forcasted for tomorrow afternoon/evening. It's not even November yet; what's with this?
I'm going out now to add some antifreeze to the plumbing.
Yuk!

Does YOU'RE Outback want to play in the snow, too? We're only in the 1" zone... so I might have to drive two hours north into the 6-10" zone.

Well it has started, the rain/sleet is now snow and the flakes are huge. You know you are in trouble when the Weather Channel's Jim Cantore- Storm Stories Jim- is broadcasting live for the Weather Channel from a location about 20 miles away from where you are!! They are warning about losing your power due to the trees still having a lot of foliage, so I'm warming the house up and cooking my dinner now. Gotta go, pot is boiling....
