Oh, it works alright. But folks who worry about cell phone or microwave radiation's side effects will go ballistic with the orders of magnitude increase in the power of this radiation.

I'll get my radiation for the sun, thank you.

John

PS. OTOH, my toothbrush is wirelessly charged. Maybe that's why my hair is moving South.

The only way to transfer power, without wires, is through an oscillating magnetic field. Some are sensitive to this. Twenty years ago EMF was the concern of everybody. If you lived near high voltage transmission towers, then you were doomed. I used to work in a 500KV substation fairly regularly, but I did not notice any health effects. The issue seems to have fallen off the map now. Though therapeutic magnetic stimulation of the brain is an upcoming research subject.

Your egg will be the ideal place for you to be cooked by the Electro Magnetic Field. Just like being in a microwave.

Oh, I do. Dozens of watts flow into my battery daily for free. Looked an hour ago and was charging at 13.6 volts in full, if low angle, sunshine.

Thank you fusion.
The Sun, like other stars, is a natural fusion reactor, where stellar nucleosynthesis transforms lighter elements into heavier elements with the release of energy.
And Neto, my Scamp is a giant Faraday cage, with all that aluminumized bubble wrap. Not so good for cell reception but better than a tin foil hat in warding off the evil doer waves.

I totally forgot about that alum bubble wrap. I wonder if we could make a suit out of that stuff to use when we go outside.

I don't want to interfere with your tin foil hat, but that only protects you from radio waves. The low frequency, (60 Hz) used in our electrical system would require literally tons of iron, like they use in transformers. I am not sure how much even that would protect you.

Before you jump on board as a useful form of moving electricity from place to place, you might check the efficiency vs transmitter/receiver distances.

Might be useful as a non corroding 7 pin connector...

John
its only a faraday cage if its all grounded and conductive, I dont think that silver layer on reflectix is anywhere near thick enough to be a suitable conductor.

Regardless, it does a great job at blocking radio waves. TV, FM radio, cell phone, VHF and Weather Radio, and HF Ham radio... I have done them all in my Scamp and I can tell you that the foil-lined egg is not good for reception.

I don't claim to be an expert, but it is my understanding that a continuous, conductive container, grounded or not, will block radio waves from getting inside.
I could be wrong.

Could this be true? - No.

I am always amazed that things like this keep coming back. The principal ideas are well known and understood, including their limitations, but there is always some magical breakthrough "right around the corner" that will be the enabler. We have had this "wireless" electricity ever since. Every transformer is a device that separates the high voltage circuit from the low voltage circuit and the power is transmitted through air and magnetic medium (transformer laminations) therefore wirelessly.

One other clue is the long, spiffy, full of outrageous claims presentation that rambles on for ever, and on top of everything when you close the browser window asks you: This page is asking you to confirm that you want to leave - data you have entered may not be saved.

Stay away!

John, I wasn't completely serious with the faraday cage/evil doers reference, but I do agree with Gordon that the reflectix seems to attenuate radio waves. I use a cell phone booster that works much better when its antenna is outside the Scamp and my FM radio likes its antenna near a window for proper reception.

Cheers, john

Every time I see people talking about wireless electricity, I think of an episode in the series The Avengers "Positive Negative Man" who used "Broadcast Power" as a weapon. One of their better episodes IMHO.
