Yeah! Our trailer is safe!

A huge tree branch just came down right next to the trailer. It is hard to tell in the dark, but it seems to have missed the trailer. On the other hand, it smashed my car's windshield, sunroom, and side mirrors. It probably dented the top too, as it landed square on my car which was parked right next to the trailer. The van looks OK too. It appeared as if only the leaves hit the van.

Yoo hoo, State Farm! Can I have a new car?

Yikes Cindy! I wonder if this was the wind that hit us here in Omaha last night??????? We have trees down next door on both sides. Glad you are OK. Hope when the sun comes up everything still looks good.

Well, I guess if I thought about it, I did get out only about 15 minutes before it hit. Kevin thinks they will total my car. I am glad we did not buy new tires for it, but I just wish I had not just filled it this AM. Darn it, a full tank gone.

I just hope that we don't find dents, scratches and scrapes on the trailer and van when we get up.

I had actually been planning on a new car soon. I guess it is now probably sooner.

Perhaps you can siphon the gas into the van? These days a full tank might be worth the bother!

Oh, that brings back memories, Fred! I remember the storm in 2010 when we went to Roy's fish fry rally. A huge branch fell right next to the trailer that night too. Hmm, I wonder what that means.

Unhappy Your story brought back memories for me, too.

In 2006 I was on a job, and took a lunch break sitting in my work truck eating my sandwich and reading the paper. As I was doing this I would intermittently hear a click-click sound. It sounded like a kid in my neighborhood who rides his skateboard up and down the sidewalk all day long, with the skateboard's wheels click-clicking over every expansion joint. I looked up, but there was no one there... no skateboarder, no pedestrians... odd...

Then... WHUMP!!!

The click-clicking was the tree trunk cracking.

I like Anne's idea.... siphon the gas! It's costing me nearly $80 to fill my F-150. It would certainly be worth the effort to me.

We checked in daylight. Van and trailer are fine. Will need to move car to get trailer out for vacation tomorrow. Glass all over. Kevin got a sliver in his hand trying to move the branch from the hatchback this AM.
Car looking on the El train today.
