Just purchased 1977 13 ft scamp which has been sitting under oak trees for the last 13 years. The fiberglass is stained and discolored. I would like to bring back the original color if possible. Any ideas?
Just found out that lime-a-way works really well for some types of stains (rust, other yellow deposits). But I would start with the restoration system. You will need to wash it with some type of car wash (does not really matter what brand).
You may have to use Bar Keeper Friend to remove 13 years worth sitting. Not a bad idea of trying something else first as has been mentioned. Kind of depends on the condition of the gel coat and grime it's collected.
I found that a thick solution of car wash soap and water applied by scrubbing with purple Scotchbrite works great to start. The scotchbrite is effective without scratching due to the car wash solution. Follow this with a good wax and a buffer and elbow grease, then top it off with gel gloss.
