87 Lil Bigfoot LED Tail light upgrade

I have been building courage to upgrade to led tail lights on my 87 lil bigfoot. The original lights appear to be Bargman. Has anybody else done this upgrade? Comments?

I upgraded the original Bargman tail lights on our 1988 Silver Cloud earlier this summer. I got pretty much the exact same Bargman fixture, but with LED lights for all but the backup light. The cost was about $70-$75 per side and it wired up very easily to the existing wires. They are much brighter and no more loose bulbs! (You can get the backup light in LED, too, but I chose not to spend the extra $). I also ordered resistors in case the LEDs didn’t behave properly with my existing wiring, but I didn’t need to install them since everything flashed at the right speed.

Same question I ask every time I hear this plan, Why not just change the bulbs. Are the Bargman fixtures bad? I ordered red for the red locations and amber for the amber locations, I like the light better.

i have the camper gutted and am doing a complete re wire. One weakness has always been dull unreliable tail lights. I had a police car escort me to my final destination in Eaton Rapids , MI a number of years ago because the lights stopped working mid journey. That was embarrassing... and dont need the stress.

It seems like an appropriate time to put in modern, brighter lighting in.

Kenneth, where did you order those lights from?

I replaced the whole 3-light combination because one or more of the lights were always not working on a trip. The bulb holders/sockets were rusted and the bottom spring plates semi-functional at best. I tried the separate LED bulbs, but a bad socket is a bad socket. No issues now.
