I want to move my batteries from my hitch to under the front bench seat, I am concerned about gas build up while charging the batteries (eg. Hindenburg) putting a vent hole in the floor would be easy but since hydrogen is lighter than air it wouldn't be very effective, a second option would be to install a louvre type grill on the outside of the trailer wall. Has anybody done this?

There are battery boxes made that have a vent hose attached and the hose can be attached to an outside vent. The vented battery box I saw was installed in a cargo trailer and I have only seen one for sale in a RV parts store years ago.
Here is the one I saw. http://www.adventurerv.net/vented-battery-...ite-p-4084.html

You might also find a venting battery box at a marine supply. Boaters don't store their batteries on the fantail . . .

I need some lessons on seaching this forum I always get pages and pages of topics with the word battery in them, I know its in there somewhere ! maybe the resource center needs an FAQ section with liks to these articles. I don't know how much work or money that would take but its just a thought.

Thanks Donna D

You're welcome Rick. What I searched for was:
+vent +battery

And, yes it came up with five pages. I just cruised the topic titles and looked for those words within the posts. At this point in the search, the words are highlighted yellow. Then, I picked those that were the most relevant for you.

On edit: here's a vented battery box, like Eddie referenced from Dyers: Vented Battery Box / Small $28.84, the one Eddie referenced is a bit cheaper and it's the same thing! Pays to shop around
