I have a 77 Boler and my hitch tongue is worn out enough that it may not be all that safe. I want to replace it. Anyone who can help with sourcing the tongue replacement and removing/replacing steps I would appreciate it. I am in New Westminster BC Canada.
do a websearch with the keywords below. You will need to match what parts you get with the style of coupler you have. There are video tutorials on youtube for doing this task.
Clean it up and take a good look at how it is made. There are slots on the side that the hoop in the front pulls the lock forward to lock the system in place. The top latch holds the hoop in place. Also there is a hole just behind the hoop for a pin that will lock the hitch so that it cannot open up either to hitch up or come off.
Close the hitch and jack up the front to see if you can raise the TV/hitch to make sure it is solid.
If I were to replace that hitch I would look for a Bulldog that matched the angle of the trailer frame.
To feel more comfortable I often wrap a small bungee cord over the latch on top, but best is that safety pin through the hole.
thank you all three of you for your input. redbarron55 you describe my tonque operation exactly. I will do the search, k corbin. And now I can be sure it's on tight, John
So appreciative of this site and the "insight" others have
