Buying a 1990 Bigfoot 3000 series

Hi all, I am new to this forum I live in northwest. My fiancée and I really want to get a fiberglass truck camper and found this 3000 series 1990 Bigfoot by looking around, I would like some recommendations since I am very new to this and this camper is as old as us, I am handy so I can deal with minor repair as long as the camper have good bones. What you guys think of this is it too old? The camper seems in good shape for is age. https://www.rvt.com/Bigfoot-RV-Bigfo...38894-UX226261

Nothing is too old in the FG camper arena. It’s all about how it has been maintained and stored. Poorly maintained and stored outside with no cover, 10 years might be too old. Stored and maintained 50 year old could be ok.

When I bought my 42 year old Trillium last fall, it had not been maintained. But it had been stored in a garage for the last 20 years so it was in pretty good condition.

First , that is not a 3000 series, & I don't believe the 3000 or 2500 series was available in 1990. I can see by the windows in the picture that they are single pane windows ( dual pane appear somewhat recessed ) so that is what we now would call a 1500 series. About as light as you'll find in a BFTC. look for a sagging roof as many then didn't have factory AC, & may have not had proper bracing added when it was built.
FYI, a 3000 series had a molded front, rear & bottom section with flat 'sandwich' sides & a rubber or (later models) FG roof section. VERY well insulated, but not a true FG (as we consider them) with a clamshell top & bottom section, as is the one pictured.

We modified the rear end of our 2006 Ram 2500 do a Northern Lite 9.9 could fit. Everything fit until the last two feet where the camper bulges to accommodate toilet, holding tanks etc. All we did was angle ground out a section on each side and rewelded the covering section so it appeared stock. It gave us 1/2-5/8” extra space.
We sold the camper because I was fed up with installing and removing stress plus I didn’t like what it did to mileage nor the high center of gravity. We ended up buying. 17.5 Bigfoot trailer instead.

Wrangler,

Any chance you can send me better shots of that brochure (or scans)? I'm very interested in seeing it as I'm in the market for a vintage BF camper. If so, PM me and I'll supply an e-mail address.

Thanks much!
