CalMark WeatherMax Cover Material

Hello,

I was wondering if there is someone out there who has a cover that is made out of WeatherMax, and how you like it. I was going to go with Sunbrella but CalMark offers WeatherMax as their main material. I guess supply problems prompted the change.

I realize I could buy a lower end cover but why buy something twice. And I'm sure the fit will be much better from CalMark.

Thanks!

Loren

I owned a sunbrella version and was happy with it.
They have doubled the price from 6 years ago, I had a sample of the new fabrics. I suggest you ask for one. My quote for a 25 foot Bigfoot was 1700 plus.
I passed

I do have a sample from them. I would say everything has gone way up in the past 3 years. I know personally from doing some construction and buying metal.

They quoted $830 for a Casita. I guess we will be testing the material for the next person. I know I can get a cover for less than half the price...will it last as long as WeatherMax, who knows? The fit will definitely be better from CalMark.

Be interested in your thoughts upon receiving the cover
Bigfoot is a much larger camper
Still I would have thought that 12 or 1300 would have been a proportional quote

For nearly 2000 I can almost get a hard cover shelter installed

When we purchase our 2003 Bigfoot 25RQ in 2016 it came with a Calmark cover that had been used once. When we sold the Bigfoot in 2018 we forgot we even had the cover, so it wasn’t included in the sale. Just purchased our 2016 25RQ and hope the mice haven’t made a home in the Calmark.

We also had a used one for our Casita. It took Terry and I struggling to get it installed and only put it on that one time. I have the feeling the same will happen this time too.

Enjoy,

Perry

I'll report back after we use it for a while. It will be a test over time though.

I think you are better off with the hard cover shelter. A friend of mine has one for his Airstream and it works fine. No messing around with a cover. His shelter has walls that come down from the roof line about 1/3 of the height.

I'll be ordering the CalMark soon...

as with anything ... if the lower quality will only cost half the price and will only last for half the time ... One would end up paying the same $$$ as buying the higher quality one over time.

When I purchased our 2019 Escape 21 I also bought a custom ADCO Sunbrella cover. This a custom cover along the lines of a Calmark, it worked great and was around $600.00. Fast forward to the purchase of our new Bigfoot 25b25rt I requested a price quote from ADCO and Calmark, both over $1500.00. I ended up catching an Rvmask 600D cover on Amazon warehouse deals for $60.00. Thoughts.....Well worth the money and dare I say more weather proof than the ADCO, one year in and still looks new. If a new cover cost $1500-2000 I would do a carport.

Calmark Cover: 2 years and Perfect Condition

Friends,

We bought a Calmark cover for our 16" Scamp two years ago. The fit is perfect and, after the end of its second winter, the cover looks brand new. Although I live in PA where the past two winters have been relatively mild with very little snow or ice, the cover has help up to what winter weather we have had with no observable wear. I'm a cheapskate by nature, but I am happy to have paid a little more for the Calmark quality and durability.

I feel the same way as Bill about the Calmark cover on my Scamp 16.

I have a Calmark cover that is 7½ years old, and still in great shape. I happened to visit Calmark's shop, yesterday, for another project. I got to see their newer WeatherMax fabric, and am impressed. According to Natalie (owner) and Sal ( he does the production/sewing), the special blend Sunbrella fabric is not currently available, so they switched to the new fabric. It is lighter (important if you have a bigger rig), slightly more opaque, seems to be more flexible, and performs well even in SoCalif sunlight.
If I were to get another cover, it would be a Calmark, and this new fabric would be my choice (unless, of course, Sunbrella would chose to offer the special blend fabric that Calmark formerly used, then maybe that!).

How heavy are these covers? The cover I bought from the Casita store years 2019, still working. It is easy to put on by myself.

I don't know the total weight until we receive it. You could ask for a free sample , it will give you an idea of the difference in weight.

Regarding cover weight: I have an Escape 17 (so the FG body is 6'8" wide by a little over 13' long). The Calmark cover w/Sunbrella material is 25 lbs.
