"Ceramic coatings have become more commonplace in the marine market over the last few years because of its claim to last much longer than wax or sealants without re-applying, typically 18-24 months in southern states and 3-4 seasons up north. Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer made from ceramic nanoparticles (usually silicon dioxide or silicon carbide) that are suspended in a clear resin. When it hardens on the surface, it’s chemically bonded to create an impermeable layer that is semi-permanent, meaning it won’t come off unless it’s abraded." from: https://southernboating.com/maintena...g-controversy/
But I like Rejex. I can do that myself and it is a lot cheaper.

We got the “hood” open and I saw that sparks from the battery had ignited some grease on the engine. She had a towel and I snuffed the fire out. Another guy came along and we were able to take the battery cable off which was loose. She was going to call her dad for help and we walked on into the school. I said to the guy who helped me. “Fiero, how appropriate.” I thought it meant fire in Spanish or Italian or Latin at the time. Learned differently later. Should have meant lemon.

I wish I had been able to camp with RedDog more the last couple years. He gives me a short lesson in Spanish each day. Red Dog gets “Fiero” some nights.
I worked for a commissioner who would open each staff meeting with the Spanish word of the week, usually related to the job at hand.
My mother, grandparents and great aunts and uncles spoke Czech. I learned some phrases over the years.
When I was a kid, I remember my great aunt Emma cruising along one day discussing current events of the day. All of a sudden she hesitates and throws in
“astronaut”. I asked my mom what the deal was. She said If the Czechs had a word for astronaut Aunt Emma didn’t know it. I can remember my grandpa reading the Czech newspaper he’d get a couple times a month.

Ceramic Coatings for Fiberglass Trailers
I found this thread as I have used a spray and wipe off ceramic coating on my car and am researching its use on my Escape 19.
First of all, with regard to SMC, Escapes at least are real gel coated fiberglass and not SMC. Not sure about Scamps, Casitas and Olivers, but I suspect they are as well.
I have been using 3M Quick Wax with OK results. It has some carnauba wax in it and is very easy to use and it is indeed a quick wax. It’s so easy, I’m a little concerned about its longevity and protection. Thus I’m looking at and will experiment with some ceramic coatings.
The best rated ceramic coatings seem to have a higher % of SiO2 in them and require a wait time after application before buffing. This can be 2-3% and a couple of minutes or 8-12% and 12-24 hours with more labor intensive buffing.
There are both RV and Marine varieties but I can’t see why they would be any different. Some you can by 8oz for $30 or 128 oz (a gal) for $250 which is what the professional retailers use, but the product is the same. Glidecoat I think is one of these. I’m guessing the $850 ceramic job uses the products with a higher % of SiO2 and washes, abrasively gets rid of oxidation and then waits overnight between application and polishing. We could all do that too, but I’m looking for something I can use after a wash where I just spray and wipe off, with perhaps a 1-5 minute set up time between apply and buff if it was proven to really be worth it. If I have to make a big effort it just is not likely to get done.
Anybody have experience with any of these coatings?
Thanks!

Another vote for Zep.
Ceramic coatings confuse me. Why would adding an abrasive powder to a polymer be a good thing? It seems to me that the silica, (sand) would erode the gel coat when removing it. What am I missing?

Lets see, thousands of dollars for a ceramic coating in my area that lasts 1 1/2 to 2 years. Meanwhile, my $25 Zep finish has lasted over 3 years.
OK.

In fairness to the ceramic people, from what I've read, it might be a good thing if:
- You have a high-end vehicle.
- You don't drive it very much.
- You are willing to pay someone US$1,000 to CAREFULLY, sand and buff your paint surface to PERFECTION.
- You are willing to pay someone US$500 to apply the magic.
Then, it sounds like it might be better than wax for several years.
On the other hand, my camper has never had wax in 44 years as far as I can tell, it's more than one color, it's got teensy-tiny pimples all over one side, the paint is falling off the back under the spare tire and the only thing holding on some of the paint is all the extra silicone sealer I put on all the rivets. So, no ceramic is going to help me. :-)
And we STILL camp the hell out of it all over the continent.

I've been looking at this too. I have a Escape 19 and my guy washes & waxes for $150. He started offering the ceramic coating for $1500 (1 coat) $2250 (2 coats) and $3000 (3 coats) Much of the cost is in prep. He says the ceramic coat is a much superior finish.

I think $150 for wash and wax is a hell of a deal.

Thursday did some minor gelcoat repairs on roof few minutes
