Trailer: 1972 Compact Jr

I am following all the postings about these trailers and doing internet searches. It appears that the compact II has a shorter pop-up roof but it also appears that it has more closet storage, that the bed is across the width of the trailer, streetside to curb side and that there is a bench to sit at across the front of the trailer resulting in seating around three sides of the table. As seen in these photos.

The compact juniour has a larger pop-up, and the bed is lengthwise along the centre line of the trailer.

Can I confirm that this is true or is this true only for certain years of the compact II or would this be the results of owners modifications?

I am watching out for a trailer with the bed, along the centre line. We have this in our tent trailer and want to repeat the arrangement in a solid wall trailer.

Hi Kent

If you look here in the compact albums you can see some of the differences.

Kent,
You are correct about the differences between the Jr. and II. The bed area in our Jr. is almost square (72" long X 70" wide) and we sleep lengthwise. The bed in the Jr. is larger than the bed in the II due to the II having a larger 'kitchen' area. So the Jr. has less storage. The II has a U-shaped bench seating area and the Jr. has longer benches but only on two sides. The longer pop-up section of the roof in the Jr. is of little use because the extra length is forward and above the table where you can't stand.

These differences are original and apply to all model years of the Jr. and II.

Hello, We have a compact II. Ours is white with black trim. We use black and white check for the curtains.
We had a blue one we bought and totaled in Montana
We really enjoy our little hamburger box.

"Hamburger box" Heh heh. I always think of my sister's as having the proportions of a cube of butter.
