A crack that goes all the way through all layers of
fiberglass is definitely a concern. It’s often caused by excessive flex in the shell, which could indicate loose rivets or even a problem with the floor or frame. Vibrations from use on rough roads are another possible cause.
They are most common at the corners of doors and
windows (especially if the corner is a sharp 90-degree angle and not radiused). If you catch it when it’s small you may be able to stop it from spreading by drilling a small hole in the end of the crack (which acts like a radius to diffuse the stress). You can then seal it up and it may hold.
If it continues to spread or open up, you’ll need to do a fiberglass repair from the back side, as well as explore the cause.
