Electrical Battery Protection Strategies?

Question for the Electrical Sages out there: I recently found that although I had left my Scamp plugged in, for some reason the breakers all tripped, and after the minor drains used up the lithium battery, the battery was dead. I flipped the breakers, charged up the battery, and decided the safest plan was to leave plugged in with the battery disconnect off.
I don't know if lithium installed by Scamp has an automatic safe shut off to protect battery, but seemed best bet to me.
Any other ideas?

Don't know why the breakers tripped. Power surge? The Progressive Dynamics power supply should hold the battery in a charged state without a problem. The battery disconnect should be used when the trailer is stored and not plugged in.

There can be phantom power draws, e.g., the propane detector. If cutting power to/from the battery during storage, you might want to disconnect at the battery terminals.

Or just install a simple battery isolation switch in the battery cave. Turn it on or off without the need to unhook any wires each time.

And just as a point of clarification, all the 12 VDC loads are on fuses. The circuit breakers are strictly for 120 VAC loads.

Check your converter...

Check to see if your converter is working. (Mine died a couple of weeks ago.)

To check the converter:
  1. unplug from shore power
  2. disconnect the battery
  3. reconnect to shore power
  4. see if your lights work
If your interior lights don't work, the converter is dead (not converting 120v AC to DC).

You can purchase a replacement from Progressive Dynamics.
