Floor rot under rear window, Scamp 13

Hi All- Time to deal with the rotted floor under the rear window. I'd prefer to not replace the entire rear section of floor, but just a section including the bad area. I would love to hear how other owners have successfully dealt with this.

What is the best way to join the new piece to exhisting floor?

Replace the floor with cosa board n no more issues. Manufactured campers should be required to use no rot materials for floors or an optional item as with boats

That COSA board looks excellent. No rot and lighter than plywood too! Sure, its expensive, but given the work involved, I think it would be a good choice.

One thing to check is what support is required, i.e., what it can span. There's not much framing under the rear dinette: two longitudinal frame rails about 3-3.5' apart, no cross members. The outer edges on the sides are cantilevered a foot or so beyond the rails with no support other than the shell.

With plastics, I'd also be concerned with how they might be affected by heat coming up from hot asphalt.

If mfgrs used epoxy coated plywood or coosa board no maintenance would be required for campers floors. Boating industry has been using composites since the 80's for reinforcements. Shame on the camper mfgs.
