Trailer: 1989 17 ft Bigfoot Deluxe / 2004 Ford Ranger
Posts: 115
I am now a firm believer in fate...just a scant 2 weeks ago, I started looking for a Bigfoot 17 footer, to replace our beloved '73 Trillium 1300. I started my search early, since a BF is hard to find, so everyone told me.I posted in this column, looking for advice, tips on the BF line, to prepare for decision time well down the road.
Last Saturday, I parked an '89 B17 trailer in my yard !!! Yes there's a story. A good friend who had been on the prowl for a Trill 4500 had spotted this one and dropped in on the owners to check it out.Feeling that the weight may be a little too much for his Grand Cherokee, he continued on looking for a 4500. Well, he found one, and I helped him snowblow a 400 ft path to the shore of a local lake, so he could get it up to the road from the owners backyard. We got talking about the BF, and the amazing condition it was in, as well as the fact that the owners seemed anxious for a sale. That did it...I was hooked ! I drove the 5 miles or so from my home to see it, and within 1/2 hr a deal was struck...the rest as they say, is history.
Some issues will have to be looked after before Spring, but, hey, I have lots of time...and also a Trill to sell, once I decide on the timing.
Thanx to all who responded to my post, offering tips, as well as technical advice.
Joe/Peterborough.

Joe;
Good for you!
I was one that mentioned that they seemed rare in Ontario, but, there you go, I was wrong! Not my first time!
Going from the condition of my 93 when I got it 2 years ago, I suspect that it's probably in pretty fair condition. They seem to be well built!
I've done a few improvements, and have a LOT of info on them, so, if you have any questions, and/or problems, I could probably help with advice!
Drop me a line if you want any info, although, I do know there are at least several other people on this list from Ontario that have a BF17.
Was I wrong about the 8-10K price? Or, if so, was I wrong by much?
If you paid a lot less then you got a good deal and can refrain to answer!
Good luck and Happy Bigfooting!

Donna:

Here are couple of pics just after we brought the trailer home and parked it. Since the pics were taken we've had 10" of new snow.

Better than a 50/50 chance that you will, this year. And quite possibly also my buddy Pete's Trill 4500 that we towed up 400 ft from the shore of Chemong lake about 3 wks ago,...(refer to the story behind finding the Bigfoot in my earlier post) .It is his first FG trailer.He lives in Bridgenorth, even closer to Emily than me.
