How to remove black spots on exterior????

Hi Everyone,

Just wanting to clean the exterior of our Beachcomber from let's call it age spots actually black colored spots. Not sure what to use ! Have tried a small spot with vinegar but it didn't work.

It seems alot of the color is going to come off to, but after reading some posts I will try to bring back with Gel Gloss........

Any ideas on how to get these dark spots off would be greatly appreciated.

It is likely small spots of mold associated with tiny pits in the gelcoat. Try bleach rather than vinegar. Make a paste of bleach and cornstarch (don't use other powders). That will allow the bleach to stay on the spot long enough to kill the mold (if that's what it is). Leave the paste on for a couple of hours then scrub while flushing with clean water.

Try it on a small area first. The bleach should not hurt the gelcoat, but it might remove some of the normal oxidation thus causing a color change.

Weather's great! Only six months til winter... I have the same mold on mine too LeeAnn, I am going to pressure wash, then try the gel gloss. I've had some success with the small areas I've tried, but I'm not sure how much luck I'll have in the final stages.

I recently cleaned up a sailboat which had porous gelcoat and it was covered with mold and black spots. I tried all the usual solutions with not much success. I had just cleaned several houses and used a cleaning solution using JOMAX bleach and water. Spray it on with a garden or deck sprayer and let it set a while, then brush lightly and rinse with water. Spots that don't immediately come off will dissapear once the sun shines on it a day. JOMAX is found in the big box stores in the paint dept. near the pressure washers.

I use a product called 30 seconds...spray it on wait 1/2 minute hose it off. Then, wipe on a bit of gel gloss and it'll shine up wonderfully.

Whenever I wind up with any thing black on our trailer I use WD40 to clean it. Just spray, wait a few seconds and wipe off. Works great for tar, etc.

Leanne, I get black streaks down my Boler from water running off the roof and just yesterday tried Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on a few of them and with a little effort it came right off but alas I cleaned the whole camper last year with a cleaner and the Gel Coat sealer and it took 3 days and alot of arm work but these streaks always come back and nead to be taken care of.

Hi: Have you ever wondered where all the particles of worn rubber from all the millions of spinning tires on the highways ends up??? STUCK!!! To your nice white "EGG" for one and your "TUG" for another and after a rain leaves "STREAKS" of "BLACK" which are "VULCANISED" to the surfaces!!! The longer they remain on the tougher they are to get off Keeps you sort of "Up close and personal" with all your "TOYS" Gives us all something to complain about...and do on the weekends

Hi: In my experience any product that requires 3 steps with lots of rubbing and "Elbow Grease" will work GREAT Those that say "Spray on and wipe off" won't

Bucket of water, regular car wash, and 1/4 cup of bleach. Use a scrub brush . The trailer will be Gleaming.

I had use Fantastik spay (or Hertlel in Québec) with ArmorAll after to seal and shine. Easy and it really works well for me.
