I did it! 87 uhaul ct-13

After a few months of research and all the good help from everyone on this forum, i found my EGG!

87 uhaul ct13. no leaks at all, no roth, no cracks, gelcoat a bit yellowish but all smooth.
interior need a bit of work to make it mine.

ex- Owner had an electric fridge and removed the gaz/electric fridge as he did not want any gaz, in the egg, he was using te gaz fridge in his garage plugged in 120v....so i dealed with him on the price and i took back the gaz fridge and left him his electric one to use in his garage. lines look good but i will need to get that inspected.

we plan on redoing all cushions, make a permanent bed in the back and a 2 person table/seat for the front.
i will not use the water system so it might be taking it out.

ex owner did a second 120v electrical system, not sure why exactly, i'll rewire everything my way with a parralele 12v system and led lights. suncell on the roof works also..

Tires and wheels are brand new, axle has been replaced with standard leaf spring setup...this is a big plus for me, it will make it way easier to put brakes on it. it pulls nicely and is very stable on the highway.

One door hinge pin need replacement one is a bolt, slighlty loose making it hard to close. any suggestions?

also the door lock is a pain to operate..thinking of replacing the complete thing..again, suggestions welcome.

Windows will need proper re-sealing(silicone used) and some rubbers are cracked)

My wife already advised me that it will not stay white...she was talking abour red last night, will see.

in te meantime, any suggestion on cleaning the exterior fiberglass?

happy campers

Oooh I meant to ask what exactly is hanging from your upper cabinets?

...and how do you know it's a 1987? If you look on the port side (RH) there should be a decal with your MFG and SN. The date of mfg should also be on there.

Inquiring minds want to know...

Congratulations on your new UHaul! There are lots of UHaul owners on this site and they are very helpful.

As to the color of your new egg, the UHauls were all a bit beige or yellowish. The gelcoat is NOT white, so don't waste a lot of time scrubbing to find the non-existent white color. It isn't there! However, as you found, you can make it very shiny!

yeah i've read that thread,
problem is, most of the products mentionned are not available here in canada, i'm wondering what do we have here that could work.
you mentionned the zep products, i bought a cleaner/degreaser safe for plastics, i will give it a try on a small portion under the trailer.

Welcome. In the document center find a sheet of UHaul parts. The hinge is from a commercial freezer door.

Thats it, i'm addicted!

Got back from work at 5h30, stop at the propane shop, i've got a appointment wednesday to get my fridge installed and the gqz lines checked.
Do you guy's use one or 2 propane bottle?

On my way back, got a phone call, someone is very motivated in buying my old wawa camper trailer that i posted on kijiji this morning! They drive down from about 2h away to see tommorow...if that works, the "camper change" will be done in less than 48h.

Got home, took all my stuff out of the wawa camper to make it nice and ready for sale! One beer(its crazy hot, got to have a beer)

Then i got into the uhaul....
-removed microwave/tablet
-removed the bunk bed...another beer (did i say its hot?)
-then a 3rd beer looking at all the details of the trailer and planning in my head.
-simulated a front table with the rear table to see how big will be my table.

Enough work, let get inside the house witha/c
Cant get the uhaul out of my mind so I've printed some pics of the uhaul to draw some paint/design ideas...of course with a beer!

Hello my name is Bernard and i'm now addicted to an egg camper!

Oh Oh, a cross addiction. A tough one too, beer and egg campers. Hope there are 12 steps between the house and trailer.

My fridge is not propane so I use one tank. And I am looking to put on a bit smaller tank. Tongue weight is an issue for me because I am thinking of using a 70 Bug as a tow vehicle. I do use the propane furnace and it will run forma good amount of time on one tank.
