Thumbs up

I was given a Boler today it's in very bad shape. I couldn't tell if the strap they had on it was to hold the door shut or hold the body to the frame. My question is does the side supposed to move in and out when you lightly push on it. Then of course this is in the area of the door and windows. The fibrglass looks very old and brittle, is the fibrglass giving up or can this be repaired or is it normal.

Thanks Russ

I dont think I have ever heard of fiberglass wearing out. I suspect if the holocost comes, roaches will be living in out rigs as the only places left standing.

I would imagine it might flex if the windows frame is rotted out. There are some trailer with wood back there for support, and the glass can get thin at the edges. I know it did in my little Burro.

Don't worry, be happy; you now have a Boler. Congratulations! They are relatively indestructible, and easy to work on, even if you're not the handy type. Take some time to browse through the archives, and feel free to ask questions. Have fun.

Welcome to FiberglassRV William! You're a lucky fella. Most of us had to BUY our trailers

Fiberglass IS brittle. With enough stress it will chip or crack. A bit of movement on a fiberglass wall is expected... if you push on it. If you have a fiberglass shower in your home, push on a wall and see what happens. It's a non-issue. Your next questions will be how to "revive" the gel coat and for that I'd suggest you use the fabulous search function for words such as waxes or paint.

It's possible the strap you're talking about could be used for either the door or the body. Have you checked the body bolts? When you removed the strap, did the door automatically open?

I'd suggest using the Problem Solving forum for questions/problems. It's best to put one question/problem in a single topic.

Don't cry, be happy!

We always compare the cost to fix up added to the base cost we had to pay for our rigs and all we can do if or when we sell is break even or lose a bit. Now here is a rig, that at the prices Boler's bring restored, could actually be profitable after restoration.

Hey Russ. Once you get started, one thing leads to another and the next thing you know, you have a real nice looking egg and it operates just like it was meant to. Then you will be smiling and thanking whoever gave it to you. Yours in Bolering. Jim
