The Costco store (Portland OR) has this Sunter lamp for $16.99. It has 10VDC 0.48A input so with 7.5 Ohm resistor in series it should work up to 13.6VDC. If you want to spend more money a DC/DC step down convertor could be made as well. The lamp is very bright.

I have a lamp like that with a clip-on base that I got at Home Depot last year. We LOVE it and wish we had another one. They are great for reading or tatting by in the evenings, and for adding extra task lighting wherever we need it.

The one from Home Depot was $19.00 last year.

We have several. One very cool feature is the base is designed with a separate self-contained unit which contains the solar cell and batteries. This allows one to separate the base from the lamp and place the battery unit where it can be charged (such as on the dashboard of the TV) basically anywhere in the sun. They last for several hours, have bright yet well colored light.
