New Tires

WE have a 3 year old Casita 16' Freedom Deluxe. There is not a lot of tread missing on the tires (low mileage). But my question is how many years should pass before the tires are changed? Being a single axle camper I don't know when they are "too old".
My daughter and son-in-law had some tires blow out on them and they looked fine.
Also what is the best tires out there for campers?
Thanks, Tom Moquin

That's controversial. Most people would say around 5-8 years. Tires on a trailer that's used regularly and maintained well are better than tires that have just been just sitting for years. Covered storage (or at least the wheels) prolongs tire life. A tire that's been run with low pressure even once is suspect.

With a used trailer and an unknown history, especially if it shows signs of neglect, I'd err on the side of caution.

What do the date codes say? WWYY = week and year.
