Paint color code

Hi I am a new member and have Scout truck camper. I have mishap with a sign post and removed small amount of paint from the corner of my camper. I did call Adventurer Manufacturing and they cannot give me the paint code and can't sell me touch up paint. So, how do I get the paint code?
PS single widow so no husband to ask.
Thank you, mbcamp

Hi Mary Beth. I don't know if anyone here can help you. This forum is all about molded fiberglass trailers. Not truck campers or motorhomes either. I've never even heard of a Scout truck camper....

PERHAPS someone at our sister site, IRV2.com can help you. I respectfully suggest you try there. Direct link: https://www.irv2.com/forums/

Best of luck!

Donna, the Scout truck camper is a molder fiberglass camper just like your trailer. Only difference is mine is on the back of a truck.

Okay, but I know our trailers aren't painted at the factory. It's a gelcoat finish and there isn't a 'paint code.'

Do you have a picture to share?

Maybe the color is not paint but is the color of the gel coat. But if there is some small part of the camper that can be removed, and has the color on it, you could take it to a paint store where they can scan and match it. For example Lowes and Home Depot can match paint, although it may not be perfect and it would be house paint. Or if you plan to use a automotive paint you'll have to find a place that sells it, as some auto parts stores do.

I connected with the manufacturer and received this reply by email.

Mike,

This aluminum molding is pre bent and then powder coated. As Mary Beth stated below we do not have a paint code color for touch up and we are unable to send the paint we use. If we were to repair something like this on line we would sand down, fill with Bondo if needed then sand. We would touch up with D T M / direct to metal type paint.

I hope this helps,

I guess you are suppose to cut out a piece of your fiberglass that was not damaged, and take it to some paint shop and have them match the color and and tell you the type of paint you need.

Better yet, take the whole rig to a reputable RV body shop and have them repair it.
