Removing wax from rock guard

The front lower half of our UHaul has black gritty paint on it for rock guard purpose I think. When camper was waxed the wax got on the black and left a white film. I have tired lots of cleaning products, but when it dries the white film is still there. Anyone have a magic cleaning product I can use to get it off? We even tried painting black over it and the white film bled throu the paint.

In the auto paint world there is a product used before sanding and ,often, again before painting called wax and grease remover. It smells like naptha and both products work similarly -you might give it a try. change the wiping rag often. There is also a gritty product you mix with water to prewash a panel used frequently for "blends" that cuts grease and wax and has a slight abrasive quality called scuff and clean that might help. I am surprised that paint would stick to a waxy finish- hope you don't have adhesion issues. Best of luck.

If it really is just wax, ammonia will strip it.
