rivit caps--oh no!!!

We bought a 16 ft. 2001 Scamp. ALL the rivet caps are bad or gone. Ordered a set from Scamp and received them today.
What is the best caulking to use to hold the new caps on.
Think this trailer has been stored outside with no protection.
The inside is really nice and seems well taken care of inside.
Changing a few easy decor things to make it to our liking.
Will wash and wax and buff for a nice shine.
Sold our 13 ft.Casita-miss it already.
The lady that bought it said it was the cutest thing she had ever seen. She usually camps by herself so she felt the camper would be much better and safer than a tent.
Thanks for any advice.

No caulking is needed or desired. They snap on the ring and they will stay there for years or until the ring holding them deteriorates or is broken off - providing you dont power wash the trailer - which is the quickest way to get them off fast!

Below is a picture of the 'ring' Carol referenced. This is needed to 'snap' the cap on.

rivet caps

I think most rings are still there-they might all be there. Didn't check to close but the caps are in terrible shape or gone.
Will let you know what I find this coming week when I get started.
Thanks for the info.

informed buyer

I told her about the site and she already had found the site.
She had seen a fiberglass trailer some time ago and was trying to find out about it.
She said she may go to some rallies soon.
We delivered the trailer to her because a hitch couldn't be put on her car.
She said she now needs to find another vehicle.
She was just happy as punch to have the trailer in her driveway-didnt want to get out of the trailer-said she might just camp there for now!
Another happy camper.

I used proflex rv sealant in my caps and it worked great. All my caps were missing and the snap rings to go with them. Easier than drilling out all the rivets to put on new snap rings.

From what I have been reading in this thread on polish Red Max Pro #3 is great to polish our FGRV with. Thought I would pass it along in case you had not seen it.

Looks like between Barkeepers Friend, TSP cleaner and the Red Max people are getting great results. I have cleaned mine with the Barkeepers and TSP with great results.
