Roof Gasket for Campster

The time has come to replace the roof gasket on our 1970 TrailsWest Campster. The comb that holds it to the roof edge has deteriorated to the point of no return.

I've researched gaskets for older VW campers a while back and have found a source that might work, but I was not sure if the ones availavailable, would be long enough. I have no issue with trimming one that might be too long.

So, this is a call out to Campster, Hunter, and other popup owners, or anyone else with ideas where to source this rubber gasket. I've been reluctant to just rip it off to get a good measurement, but I may just have to do that.

Hoping to get this project done before summer. ThanksClick image for larger version

With a little care, neoprene gaskets can be joined with contact cement.

You don't give any dimensions. This might work:

It might. I need to figure out the length. It's probably time to bite the bullet and pull it all off since measuring it while it's up there is almost impossible.

Thanks

Finally ordered this and got it installed today. It was almost the exact dimensions and fits very well.

It was a lot of work removing and cleaning up after the old one because they had used silicone on spots, maybe as a repair.

Thanks for the link Alex.Click image for larger version

Exactly. That's why I made sure I posted the follow-up, not only to thank you, but for the next person. I think that the Hunter Compacts and others with pop up tops might have similar gaskets.

Nice!

You might want to post the measured length if you have that information.

It received 25' as that was the only option. I have approximately 11' left, so the Campster took about 14'. I think the 25' would be enough for some of the larger popups like the Compaq II.
