We did clean our original boler stove up but did not think of powder coat. It took 3 years of looking to find a boler stove of same vintage so powder coating sounds like a great idea.

I checked out how much to re-chrome my stovetop, it was $550 !
How well does powder coat hold up over the long term?

Not sure I'd even want to refurbish a fifty year old stove, even if they powder coated and re-chromed it. The burners are probably on their last legs and there are more efficient modern stoves out there today. Unless you are totally bent on doing a factory restoration as a collector, it just doesn't seem like a good investment. I upgraded my Casita stove from the horrible old Suburban to a new flush mount stainless steel stove with Piezo igniters. Much better stove IMO.

My personal experience with vintage bicycles has been that powder coating is MORE durable than chrome. Of course, proper preparation is key.

I do like the new stove tops with the flush mount lids as posted above. That deep sink (not stock?) is also quite nice!

Thanks for the replies everyone. The stove burner are still working well buts it’s the oven we really enjoy having which also works very well. Don’t want the cost/ hassle of replacing it I will investigate powder coating. Any ideas on cost?

Powder coating pricing is all over the map. It’s all about your area. What can cost $50 in one area can cost $150 in another. Go to your local community FB page and ask for local recommendations.

Don’t ask for a custom color or price will go up. A stove top is a small project, but requires prep first.
