Safe toilet bowl cleaner?

Hi,

What is safe to use when cleaning toilet bowls to avoid damaging it, the black water tank or tank/plumbing components?

Thanks in advance!

It's safe for plastic and porcelain but has bleach in it. Could be bad to dump down tank if certain other chemicals are in the holding tank.

You don't want to destroy the enzymes that break up material in the black tank, so I too would avoid bleach. Besides, a toilet brush and water seem to do the job. Not going to eat out of it.

You can't always get toilets clean with just water but I do use a natural spray stuff I make from water and Thieves cleaner that I get from Young Living. It doesn't kill the enzymes, smells good, cleans good and is 100% safe even if drank by a pet or child as it doesn't contain poisons.

I'm using Dometic toilet bowl and seal cleaner because I was concerned about keeping my seals in good shape, but it doesn't clean the bowl great.

I use a baking soda mixture with lemon oil and Thieves cleaner also when it needs scrubbed. The baking soda scrubs without damaging the toilet bowl. I use this mixture plus the liquid one I mentioned before. The baking soda may be able to be used by itself and it doesn't take much.

Perfectly safe? Not hardly. Dihydrogen monoxide kills thousands every year.

I used this Star Brite RV Toilet Bowl Cleaner for my Rv and it's very well. The RV's toilet had stains and hard water streaks. Applied and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Came in with soft brush after application and it made toilet look brand new.

Among the toilet brushed for RVs, the Thetford cleaning brush is the one I trust to use for my trailer. It has a compact, lightweight design and includes a protective helmet. There is a multi-purpose cleaning brush available that is very effective at cleaning toilets in RVs without any problems. Its 15-inch length is also perfect for RV bathroom setups. It won't cause much trouble and lasts long enough to reach those hidden areas.

I have used this toilet bowl cleaner from Lemi Shine. It provides this effective cleaning without utilizing harsh chemicals, as well. In addition, it doesn’t contain parabens, bleach, phosphates, or phthalates. It instead uses a harmless filth-fighting formula to ensure your toilet becomes stain-free.

I have been using Unique toilet cleaner.

https://www.amazon.com/Unique-Toilet...s%2C287&sr=8-5

Black tank treatment has been Happier Camper and Pure power blue.

https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-V231...%2C304&sr=8-28

The Pure power smells better than the unique and the times when I used it to control black tank oder I cleaned the toilet while it was sitting in the bowl. It does a fine job and since it is cheaper by the ounce, I won't buy the Unique anymore.

One problem I have had is that every few months or so I get an odor in the bathroom that no amount of cleaning will fix. I think the odor may get into the black rubber seal. Anyway, Thetford Aqua-Foam does the trick.

https://www.amazon.com/Thetford-Aqua...%2C153&sr=8-23

It is kind of expensive though unless you get a large pack of it from eBay.

If it needs better cleaning we'll clean the bowl just before dumping, but no bleach.

Like Glenn said, "Not going to eat out of it."

We also carry the small On The Go Water Softener and use it every time we fill our fresh water tank. Over the years we've had enough hard water. It keeps your toilet bowl much cleaner. We carry separate drinking water in a couple of 2 gallon containers.

Enjoy

I just use baking soda and water to clean the toilet> I use dawn dish soap and a water softener as a deodorant for the holding tank. It smells a lot better than the commercial holding tank products

and the dawn keeps the tank nice and clean

For my Sea Land toilet the owners manual says "For stubborn stains, use SeaLand®Toilet Bowl Cleaner..."

Manuals for many brands of RV toilets can be found in the FiberglassRV document center at: https://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/...p?do=cat&id=10
