Scamp replacement door seal.

Good day all.

I have a new to me 2010 13" scamp I just purchased.

I notice the foam seal around the door (attached to the trailer not the door) is in real ruff shape.

I also see that Scamp sells a new updated replacement seal they call the "Rib door seal"

I am wondering if there is a product that others have used to re-seal the doors that was purchased at Lowes/Home Depot/Rona ect ect ?

Any experience or tips/tricks here would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

door seal

Just replaced our door seal with the new ribbed one from Scamp.

I have tried the various open and closed cell foam insulation strips for a few years... none were satisfactory so go with the new product from Scamp!

Be prepared for a tight fit at first. Press the door firmly and release the handle, then give a tug to make sure it's latched. A couple of people have reported the door popping open on the road after installing the new seal.

It will settle in nicely after a few months.

Someone put a new one on my 13f Scamper not the best but it seals the door. Not sure if its factory or not but I think the previous owner took it to Scamp for the A/C install. he talked about new reinforcing to get it put in.

my rarfur looks new but they missed a spot over the door where someone had put a piece of Velcro to hold a screen thus I am looking for a piece!

It looks like the general consensus so far is the new improved factory scamp seal.

Some of my research shows that a block adapter plate may be needed with the new seal installed. This block adapter helps the door hinge close batter by acting as a spacer that spaces the latch a bit closer to the interior.

Does anyone know if this seal comes with the adapter?

No it doesn’t .
Just get some washers to go behind the plate ; that shins it out enough to work fine on my ‘84

Scamp Seal

We just ordered the door seal from Scamp yesterday.
So, we haven't tested it yet, but we will be using it.

Good luck,
Ann and Joe

Thank you for the detailed information.

This confuses me a bit as everything I have read points to the shim being installed at the inside door latch/handle, and not the door hinges as mentioned above?

Am I out to lunch here?

In putting the seal on the door to my Burro , I had to make a plate that gave me a little extra room. Hopefully the pictures I took can help you design your own if need be.Click image for larger version

I have installed several of the new door seals and "D" seals, as well as my original Omega seal and I never had to modify the door on one yet.

I made a replacement latch plate. I did have to shim the hinge side as well and used cut plastic material from a container I purchased at Dollar General as another member suggested in a different post.
