PROJECT: Door Shim
Statement of Facts:
The door of the Scamp with the new rubber door seal installed is difficult close.
Modification:
Shim the upper door hinge to provide more clearance for the rubber door seal.
NOTE: NONE

How To: (INSTRUCTIONS)
1. Remove door from Scamp trailer.
NOTE: when removing door make sure that you keep the spring
and brass ball for reinstallation of the door.
Dropping either item on the driveway make requires hours
of on your knees searching.
2. Remove upper (top) door hinge from Scamp.
3. Remove factory installed screws from trailer.
4. Outline the door hinge base on aluminum metal flat bar stock.
NOTE: Make sure that you also outline the required 3 holes in the
bar stock.
5. Drill 3 holes as marked in bar stock.
6. Cut out shim from bar stock.
NOTE: I use Dremel tool with fiber cutting wheels.
7. Sand or file shim edges as required.
8. Dry fit to insure shim is correctly fabrication.
9. Coat shins with clear silicone caulk to prevent water leakage
10. Reinstall Scamp side door hinge with shim using stainless steel bolts
and nuts
11. Mount door on hinges
NOTE: Don’t forget to install with brass ball in place on hinge.
This is a 2 person job.
12. Test door closing.
13. If ok, job well done. Its Miller time. If not forget the Miller and go to
step 14.
14. If necessary to add another shim or shim lower door hinge.
Repeat Steps 1-13.
