Solar question

Since this is my first solar set up I have a major question. Previously I would keep my trailer plugged in/connected year round and let the converter keep my batteries charged. With solar, while parked at home, which is better for the batteries? A solar set up or a smart charger built into a 120v converter? Does anyone have any information on the comparison of these two charging systems on keeping your batteries happy?

IConverter and Solar Panel

At home I keep them both on. I actually never shut off my RV including the fridge. There is nothing I believe in the fridge that wears and I believe that keeping the fluids moving may be beneficial. If any one else knows otherwise please respond.

As to simultaneously running both the Solar Panel and the Convertor, my thinking is that the converter will go into it's smart cycle and work to desulfate the battery no matter what the Solar Panels are doing, though the solar panels can reach desulfating voltages.

I'll be interested in other's views
