we are looking at getting a small flatscreen for our uhaul and I'm wondering if there are any ac/dc units of around 15" available? I dont wanna hang much more than that on the wall......we are going to put one of those swing type arms on and use a backing board where it mounts to thecloset on our Uhaul...I doubt we'll leave it up when traveling either . So I'm wondering what everyone else has or decided on and why. thankyou Bruce

I had a small TV in one of my units. It was AC. I just bought a small 150 watt inverter and TV worked fine.
It may be cheaper this way than buying a ac/dc unit.

Bruce,
We bought a USB digital tuner for our laptop and use it with a flat screen monitor, any size. We use an inverter when no 110V is available. Got the tuner on Ebay, $40 and works fine.

Jensendirect has remanufactured 15" lcd TV's at a huge discount (almost half price), if you want a true 12 volt TV. Jensen is used in many of the new RVs because they are made for that application.

There are some ac/dc tv/dvd naxa 13 and 15 in tvs at overstock.com I bought the 13 in tv. They run around $ 180-190 It works very well. It is light enough to hang on the wall of my ct with suction cups.

Hi: Bruce Thomas... We have a AC. only 19" Toshiba flat screen. Wt. is 11#'s. The trailer wall was reinforced for the bracket and the TV locks to the wall with a sliding gate lock. Travels well!!! If we're not hooked to a "Current Bush" we find some other activity to do!!! I might have to look at a small inverter for the TV only.

My trailer came with a small flat-screen Craig TV with a swing arm that we don't need and I would be happy to part with if you are looking for something used. I'm not sure what the AC/DC situation is, but I could look more closely if you like. For some reason, I can't find Craig TV's by googling it, so I have no idea where it came from or how much it costs new.

The pictured television is a Sharp 13, It runs on 110V and is powered by shore power or a 300W tru-sine inverter which is powered by a group 24 battery. this combo will run the television and the DVD player and allows us to watch movies & broadcast TV for several days and still have power for the 12V lights and fantastic fan. I don't really know the limit 'cause I've never run completely out of power.
The TV is hardly any threat to Battery power but the fridge and the furnace are POWER HOGS!

Alf,
We have a Bigfoot 19' trailer. I just begun thinking about getting a flat screen TV with a wall/ceiling bracket. How did you go about reinforcing the trailer wall? Do you have any pictures of your sliding gate lock? Both things sound like good idea.

Hi: Jane P... Sorry this isn't going to be much help. We bought our rig used and all the work inside the wall was done by Escape Trailers. As far as I know instead of just the regular 1X2" framing and paneling the area for the base of the wall mount was done with 3/4" plywood inside the wall...possibly the whole wall??? What I do know is that my local Airstream dealer told me it was a $500. value. We got the trailer with the arm attached but w/out a TV so all I had to do was screw the plate to the back of the TV and mount it to the wall. The gate lock is a cabinet grade sliding lock about 4" long and holds the TV very securely...6000mi. and still there!!! More pic's to follow.

This site for 12 volt tv's and other appliances was recommended on a sailing forum.

They have a nice selection of small tv's. (I've not purchased anything from them.)

Vizio has a newer line of LED LCD panels out that are very thin and light and all run on 12vdc too!
They have a transformer as supplied but would be fairly simple to mod to run directly on 12v.
They have them at Sams and they have been calling to me.
