"Trillium Falcon" restoration progress

Progress is slow, but steady. Windows are completed. They were removed, cleaned, re-sealed, new wood framing installed, two panes repaired, cranking mechanisims brought back to life and new screw cover trim installed. What a job!

New Cabinet doors

Used 1/2 inch birch plywood to make new doors. Worked ok, but the plywood was slightly thicker than the old doors, so I had to shim out the latches on the cabinets so they would latch properly.

Lookin' good. Yep, sweat equity can separate those who are willing and those that aren't when it comes to older all molded trailers. You, Mike... are obviously an "R" and I give you an A++++++++

Thanks Donna. I'm having fun with it so far. Fiberglassing outside in New Hampshire this time of year has it's challenges though, but I think I got it figured out. I'll wait till spring to glue my ensolite back down. In the mean time 12v led lights and trailer lights are next up on the list of things to do.

I need a couple more myself. I'm adding storage where I removed the heater. I thought I saw them at Cold Springs RV when I was there. They don't have pictures of the door latches on their website. I'm going to send them a picture of mine and ask them if they have them. They are about an hour from my house. If they have them I could pick you up a couple.

Maybe Vintage Trailer Supply has what you need for cabinet latches ...

mike.....as much as we love our outback "osokozy"....we wouldn't be without our propane furnace! living near enough to you as we do, perhaps you don't camp beyond the summer season or else perhaps never without shore power.....
we use our furnace so much off-season that it is invaluable.

Hi,

Just like to know wy you call your trailer a Trillium "Falcon"? As far as I know, Falcon is not a model of Trillium Trailer. I believe that your trailer is a Trillium 1300.

Trillium 1300 = 13 feet from bumper to tongue
Trillium 4500 = 4,5 meters
Trillium Jubilee = also 4,5 meters
Trillium 5500 = 5,5 meters

The Outback is 13 feet, I believe.

Maybe it's a nick name.
I call mine the green Grape (& it don't taste like a grape)

Window install looks good! And the birch is beautiful. I always love the mix of wood and glass (fiberglass, that is)

Hi, Mike

Lookin' good!

Side note: I was curious about what you meant by "Trillium Falcon" (thought it might be yet another clone-brand!), so was looking at your registry pics just now. I see it's a 1976 "real Trillium" 1300, and wondered if you're aware of the still-current recall out there on the frame of that model. ( Link to discussion of recall)

I ask since unless it's hidden by the new paint in the below pic, the necessary repair of that defect doesn't appear to have been done by any of the P.O.'s of your trailer.

All first-generation Trilliums were built in Canada. Production of the U.S.A version began after the thirty year hiatus of the brand.

The "Trillium Falcons" PO was Hans Solo. He used it as a trade vessel and for smuggling the occasional rebel out from under the noses of the Canadian Empire.

Explanation edit. Star Wars -Hans Sole's ship was the Millennium Falcon. Did I get it Mike?

The Trillium Falcon was the molded fiberglass prototype for Han's' Millenium Falcon, but it turns out that m.f doesn't do so well at warp speed.

Ummm... Mixing Star Wars and Star Trek terms can really ruffle some feathers. I don't mean to geek out, but there was a news group that I used to read were there was an on going, never ending, discussion about which would have an advantage in battle, the Star Destroyer, or the Enterprise.

Which part of my post did that???

Isn't the "Millenium Falcon" the name of Han Solo's (Star Wars) ship?

Where does Star Trek come into it???

Francesca

P.S.

Please don't send anyone to my house to do that "Vulcan Noogie" thing to my neck...

Sorry I am a Star Wars geek.
In Star Trek it is Warp Drive, in Star Wars it is Hyper Drive.
Before my youngest was born, my wife told me that she wanted to name the child Luke if it was a boy, and Leia if it was a girl. Since I did not want to have that argument, I just hoped for a boy. Young Luke is now six.

That's....really interesting!

How many seconds old was he the first time you said
(deep voice): "Luke, I am your father"?
