Trillium Rock Guard: panel replacement with aluminum?

Hi there,
starting work on restoring my Trillium 4500. I thought of replacing the panels in the rock guard with custom bent thin gauge aluminum sheet. I'll ask a machinist/panel beater friend of mine about this. Has anyone else done this?

Thanks

I haven't seen it done before, but it sounds like a good idea to me! Post some pics if you go through with it.

My only concern is it might more easily damaged by wind. As long as your frame, supports, and road latches are strong enough you should be okay.

Hello from Nova Scotia
My wife and I own a 1979 4500 Deluxe c/w washroom.
When we purchased the rock guard was in terrible shape and I couldn't find a suitable original replacement.
I went with a 20 gauge aluminum with a white face. Added the emblem and am quite pleased with the result. Some people might comment on the "Not original" aspect, but if an original in good shape can't be found, you do what you have to do!!
PS Are you going to the Atlantic Fiberglass Rally in PEI this year? It's always a great time!!

Thanks for the insights! Unsure if I'll have time for rallies this year. I will start a thread on my trailer. I have some interesting restoration work started.

Hi Graham, looking forward to your restoration thread. I'm in the process of fixing up a long neglected 1300 myself.
