What was the original tire size - 13' uhaul

I need to get new tires for my 13' uhaul camper and would like to know the original tire size. At present time I have 175 x 80R x 13 on the camper. Walmart has a (155 x 80R x 13) and a (175 x 70R x 130 and a (175 x 80D x 13 bias 6 ply tire). Thanks for any help. - Chris

I put 185 / 80 / 13 tires on ours. Went to my tire guy and told him what I wanted them for. I don't buy tires from Walmart.

I agree with Bob on both counts. 175/80R 13 is a good size. Definitely don't get the 155 (too narrow). I also don't buy tires at Wallmart.

Dave, Great question? What is wrong with Wally World tires? They appear to be selling a few tires! I can not wait until we see an answer to this question?
Thanks!!!!

Rick, I was considering the 155/80R/13 because they are lower in price and still have a weight rating of 985 pounds. That, times 2 tires, would be 1,970 pounds (empty weight being 1,250 pounds. And they are still rated for 112 miles per hour - just incase. - Chris

If you are ever on the narrow shoulder of a rural road 3 miles from Turkey, Texas in 100 degree weather changing to your spare tire because the entire tread blew off your 13" tire....... you will swear to yourself to never buy anything but the best quality trailer tire you can find. I read any and all posts I can find on tires. The very last thing I look at is price. Until I find better, all my trailer tires will be Maxxis or Kuhmo. Of course, it's your decision, your dollars, and your trailer.

are the Walmart tires for trailers? I'm running Carlisle trailer tires in the 185 size and probably have 10,000 miles on them with no problems.

Tom, thank you for your thoughts on the matter. And yes money is a concern but not the only concern. The 155 tire is 6.2" wide and the 175 tire is 7.0" wide and a 185 tire is 7.2". So the scenario of the narrow Texas road is a good one.

Thank you everyone for your input on proper tire size for the 13' Uhaul. I have to assume that no one knew the original tire size, the tire size that came on the campers from the factory.

Thanks everyone - Chris

I tend to not buy ANYTHING from WM if it is available from a locally owned shop. We get tires from a local tire store which we have used for years. Sure the prices are a little higher but you get a knowledgable salesperson who sells ONLY tires and knows the product.

As for the tire type. The official recommendation is to use trailer tires (ST) because of the stiffer sidewall which helps prevent sway. But I know that many folks with the little FG trailers use radial passenger tires (P) and are happy with them. There are several LONG discussions regarding this. You can look them up.

Rick.
