Hi everyone,
Al and I own a 1984 13' uhaul camper and we are in the process of restoring it. We were wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to go about replacing the windows in it. We plan on using our same windows, but wondered if there is a quick way to get them out and reinstalled. And what did you use to reinstall them? Thanks, we can't wait to get the ol' girl painted, and as my 5 year old nephew says, "Let's camp in the forrest!!"

Welcome, Al & Donna. There is no quick way in my opinion to reinstall your windows. I had a guy reinstall mine, & he said that he had the proper "stuff" to install them. Well, they still leak. I attempted to reinstall the back window, & it is so full of silicone, that I now have the inner piece that goes inside out, but the window itself is still not out.

My advice is take your time, & use NO silicone. Use only the butyl tape. On the side of this, look under the document center. There are manuals for the U-Haul camper.

Good luck.

I have pulled, resealed and re-installed most of the windows in the Fiber Stream (all except the Kitchen window, which hasn't leaked yet) plus installed a new Fantastic-Fan in the roof vent. I highly recommend taking your time and doing one window at a time / one window per day. Especially if you are going to use the same windows. Pieces of the old putty tape will stick to the flange on the window, and pieces will stick to the fiberglass around the hole. All of this old residue should be removed from both surfaces completely or you may still have leaks after the job is done. There is no quick way to do this IMHO.
