006 is going home next month!

We have been scheduled in for warranty stuff the week of July 21 at the ParkLiner plant in Gibsonville NC. My oldest son & I will leave Friday afternoon the 18th for the 650 mile trip, arriving probably the next day (Saturday), turn around, stay someplace that night, home Sunday. The next week Gail & I will both take Friday off to drive down, arrive Saturday probably, hook up 006 & head for the hills. Any hills will do. We plan to camp Saturday night and Sunday night, as we will take Monday off as well.

Right now I'm sitting in a garage waiting for a rear wheel bearing to get changed in my F150. Had a noise for our whole 600 mile round trip camping expedition last weekend that I thought was a messes up parking brake. Somebody up there likes me, because last night I pulled the left rear rotor figuring to see a parking brake in pieces. Nope. Rotated the wheel. Sure enough, the noise was just behind the hub. I'm a lucky fellow. Got to my buddy's shop with it this morning, now it's just waiting. Got two 1300 mile round trips to make with it next month, so need it in good shape!

Make sure you replace the other side bearing too. They have lived the same life and gone the same places. Have the shop wiggle the drive shaft too while they are there.
Have safe journeys.

Well, I am one lousy diagnostician. It was the right front. My buddy's guy said the wheel was close to falling off. Everything else is fine, so we're ready to go. He also said wheel bearings aren't like headlights - with headlights, one goes, the other is not far behind. Not so with wheel bearings.

We just made flight reservations. I deliver 006 on a Saturday, drive over to Raleigh-Durham airport that Sunday, fly home. Work through Thursday, take a red eye out of Albany NY Friday, go get 006, head home!
